Tuesday 08-05 Armed robbers break into my parents' friends' (who I am very close to, as well) house, tie up the maid, and rob them of millions of rands in computers, huge televisions, a whole bar of pricelessly rare whiskey, and so much more I don't know how they left the house. Saturday 12-05 (early morning) My teacher is on the way to school to come coach some netball players, has her windows smashed in by four guys, and is robbed of her handbag, and her credit card is used twenty eight times before it finally gets cancelled by the bank. Saturday 12-05 (late morning) A big rugby match at our school, the whole student body and staff is watching. Three armed men come into our school from the top, steal two cars and cellphones and things form other cars, and smash our gate in when it is closed by security guards. Monday 14-05 My stepfather is held at gunpoint while two men rob thew bar he works at of ten thousad rand, all their cellphones and their cigarettes. ( ) Tuesday 15-05 My grandmother is waiting in the street outside my sister's play-therapist's house, as she does every Tuesday for an hour. A man walks past, sees his chance, and starts talking to her about weather and such. Takes out a gun, and demands her whole handbag, her solid gold watch, her car keys, her cellphone, every single thing of value in that whole car. All he left was my sister's little Smurf figurine. My sister's new clothes she had just bought and her voucher for a clothing store worth about R400 was all in the handbag. I don't feel so safe anymore.

We watched fucking Do the Right Thing in school, and didn't need a release form or anything, and that is insane with swearing, and there is some nudity. I don't think our school cares too much since we and the teachers talk about like sex and swear every class, all the people in the school even openly hit on some of the girl teachers and all this crazy stuff. I can't imagine someone really complaining, although this one retard was complaining today about this article he [obviously] didn't understand, he tried to say rap didn't degrade women. And complained about the article, but I think it was semi-jokingly.
They should have made them sign something to watch that, but it is still stupid. I hate when people overreact so much, like those girls saying they would be affected for life after being called "NAPPY-HEADED HOES". I mean, that is almost retarded of someone to complain about that. But, just look at all the books being banned in schools and stuff; I am glad our school isn't strict about that kind of stuff, since I have probably watched like at least 4-6 "R" rated films in school.
And Sacrilegend, that is insane someone wouldn’t say “Jesus Christ” in school. I am glad you read it, it makes people just look stupid not to say something like that.

No, you don't understand: Afrikaans people DON'T use the Lord's name in vain, ever. The only peope who do are people from English South African backgrounds, and my "group" of girls at school. The rest of the kids are scared of and for us, they tell me repeatedly that I will burn in hell.

Did I really say that? Because I do believe in God. My friends use His name a lot, I get chastised for other things, like swearing or making fun of crippled people or something. See, I'm still pretty undecided on this one, and saying things like "Jesus Christ" or "Oh my God" make other people feel uncomfortable about something they don't feel too stable about already, so I don't do it for now. Until I've decided. Sometimes I'm sure I believe in God, but when I try to get my thoughts together I'm not so sure anymore (like right now).

And the reason I read it is that you have to look at everything you come across objectively, and not let past or future things cloud your judgment. It's just a book, anyway. It's not like anyone would be displaying their inner evil by reading something aloud. See, I think they are just cowards in their faith, and I thinkt hat if you were strong enough in your Christianity you wouldn't care to read such things becaue you'd know they carried no reflection of you in any way. Maybe they're scared they'll like saying it, I dunno.

i'm so fucking sick of censorship and indecency laws in this country. I never liked Imus to begin with, but even I think he was unfairly used as an example when he was fired. And clear-cut pieces of art (esp. movies like Do the Right Thing which Dan just mentioned), whose artistic merits are ignored JUST 'cuz of the random flash of nudity or "fuck" or "shit" just shows how backwards some people are.

Okay, I have two questions:
1. I just heard Tom Waits sing this song, and I want to know if someone else did it before/after him? And if so, who?
Ol' 55 Well my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splickly out to my old '55 As I drove away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.
Now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks, Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade Just a-wishing I'd stayed a little longer, Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling's getting stronger.
And it's six in the morning, gave me no warning; I had to be on my way. Well there's trucks all a-passing me, and the lights are all flashing, I'm on my way home from your place.
And now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck, freeway cars and trucks, Stars beginning to fade, and I lead the parade Just a-wishing I'd stayed a little longer, Oh, Lord, let me tell you that the feeling's getting stronger.
And my time went so quickly, I went lickety-splickly out to my old '55 As I pulled away slowly, feeling so holy, God knows, I was feeling alive.
Now the sun's coming up, I'm riding with Lady Luck, Freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks, freeway cars and trucks...
2. What does it mean when a file is "read only"?

Uh, yea. He wrote it I'm pretty sure. He's got some pretty interesting good songs. Read only bscly means that you can't edit it unless you right click on it, go to properties, and un-check the box that says "read only"... Actually... Now that I think about it, I think perhaps Leonard Cohen originally wrote that... Many, many, many artists use his songs... you know Judy collins, etc...

Thank you, if you look over in that "You Film Taste and You Parents" thread or whatever that beed created, we are talking about his parents censoring his movie watching. Also, in my Effects of Media class, we are having a debate coming up on whether we are for or against censorship. It is so stupid. Censoring art should not be done, it is that simple, your reason you would want to in the first place could be applied to 500 million other things and then slowly and slowly you would be censoring everything. That whole Imus (sp?) thing pisses me off, you should expect that. My dad expressed it perfect in his sarcastic saying of "why don't you just kill the guy." I mean, it is just over-reacting at its most ridiculous.

Okay, what I meant was WHERE technically do you type it in.
My mom has this thing where when she's on the internet and needs to login somewhere, she just opens this window, puts in a password, and it fills things out for her (like, on this forum it would automatically put in "sacrilegend" and "**********" for me, just because I typed in that one password. And the password works for any site you want to log into, from banking to forums to subscribtions to whatever.
Am I explaining this or just making it worse?

IE, Firefox, Opra, any crappy other browser? It sounds like you mum or whomever just set the browser to remember the password. However, this "master password sounds kind of like she's using an extra program for managing passwords. Thats odd. I never though people actually went through the trouble of using them. Funny. Ok, yea. After a quick little check, do you guys use a program called "RoboForm" by chance? All it is I believe is a small little app that just remembers passwords, login info, etc... Thats the only thing I can think of. And that "little window your mom brings up" is probably an external program not native to windows. Like "roboform". Just ask your mom or something, there are probably 100's of small little free apps that do it just as well as the commercial one I listed above.

I was actually trying to get into a site on my mom's computer (she knew, it's fine) and she uses Firefox. When she left she told me the password but not where to put it in... She may have used an outside program thingy, yeah.
It's actually LESS trouble, when you're always forgetting all your different passwords like me and my mom. But yeah, it's okay now.

I figured I'd let mal catch that one, because I would have just advised you: don't use a master password! I'm paranoid when it comes to security, so there. Anyways, I'm posting here because I wanted to make a formal announcement to this forum. I've moved to another forum for all my movie talkingness: YMDB2, which is actually where some of the other people who stopped posting here go. Main reason was, I'm not as interested in the Criterion Collection anymore. I feel they're vastly overrated because lately, when I've checked out any of their titles, it's either disappointed me or disinterested me. That, and my interests are shifting more toward animation, some fun exploitation here and there, and in general, less boring movies. I'll still post here every once and a while, and I'm still on the old AIM/ICQ/MSN/Y! circuit, but I'm just not as interested in posting here, and I figured it'd be better to formally announce that than to just pick up and leave like most have.
