Not the next Pulp Fiction. The next badass movie by QT and RR. No Pulp Fiction duplicates.
That looks unbelievably amazing, btw. Should blow my mind.

Yeah, this has nothing to do with Pulp Fiction. Have you ever seen Pulp Fiction? Completely different. This is QT/RR's homage to exploitation cinema; or "Grindhouse" cinema as some like to call it. I do believe the film is called Grindhouse because of the cinema's the films used to be shown in though. Anyways, I don't believe Pulp Fiction has any one legged girls with the other leg some rocket launcher thing in it! Cannot what for this though.

Have you ever seen Pulp Fiction? Anyways, perhaps saying Kill Bill there would have been more accurate, but saying Pulp Fiction would have implied not the genres at play, but how popular Pulp Fiction became. To most people, Pulp Fiction is the movie of the 90s. In that respect, is Grindhouse going to be the movie of the 00s?

Probably not. It'll probably be frowned upon by most critics, and scorned by most Fox News analysts. And it most likely won't win the Grand Prize at any movie festival. But it'll blow some minds, the average movie-lover's mind at least. Can't wait for this one, and "Frank Miller's 300". 2007 will be an exciting year.

Times talks Grind In anticipation of its release later this spring, the New York Times featured Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's GRINDHOUSE in Sunday's paper. Both Rodriquez and Tarantino participated in the article offering up juicy quotes on their films. Here are some tidbits: * Tarantino on scenes purposely cut out of the film to emulate the grindhouse feel of missing reels: "My whole thing is to play with the audience...I guarantee you, when it pops up ‘Missing Reel,’ the entire theater is going to scream." * The four fake trailers that will run in between the two films were directed by Eli Roth, Rob Zombie, Edgar Wright and Rodriguez. * Rodriguez: "Even though she’s got a machine-gun leg, it’s not jokey in any way." * Tarantino says "Death Proof" will feature "one of the greatest car chases, if not the greatest car chase, ever made. * Tarantino also says "Death Proof" will feature "some of the best dialogue I’ve ever written in my life." Dialogue he was so proud of he forwarded it to Bob Dylan. There's lots, lots more in the article and I suggest you head over to the NY Times site to read it all for yourself. Registration is required but it's free so sign up and check it out. GRINDHOUSE hits theaters on April 6th.

New trailer!Loved it. Showed a little more stuff on Death Proof, which I am now officially looking forward to more. If you notice in the Death Proof section of the trailer, the stuntman's car goes through a movie marquee, and the two movies are Scary Movie 4 and Wolf Creek.

RATING WOES FOR 'GRINDHOUSE'
March 15, 2007 -- THE people who dole out ratings at the Motion Picture Assn. of America just might flip out when they see "Grindhouse," Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's tribute to the ultraviolent, nudity-drenched pictures that once screened 'round the clock in the grungy movie palaces of 42nd Street.
The Weinstein Company, which is releasing the picture April 6 through its Dimension Films arm, needs an R rating for the flick to get into mainstream theaters. But, "some of it is so graphic and outrageous for a major Hollywood studio, there's no question it's headed for an NC-17 without big cuts," says a Page Six operative, who got a sneak peek at the most over-the-top footage.
"Grindhouse" is actually two short movies - one directed by Tarantino, the other by Rodriguez - with an intermission between them. During the break, a series of fake trailers will be shown for such fictitious titles as "Werewolf Women of the SS," directed by Rob Zombie.
"In one scene, a cute, topless girl is roughly tied down on a table by evil female Nazi experimenters who begin draining her blood and, as she screams in agony, they brand her like livestock with a coal-hot steel swastika," our source said. "And every girl in the Nazi concentration camp is topless."
Another trailer, directed by Eli Roth, of "Hostel" fame, is called "Thanksgiving," in which a town's celebration of Turkey Day is interrupted by a mad slasher.
"There's a part where Jordan Ladd [daughter of Cheryl Ladd of 'Charlie's Angels'] is in a car with her boyfriend and giving him [oral sex] when she lovingly reaches to stroke his hair and discovers his neck is just a bloody stump - some maniac had just cut off his head while she was in the act."
Later, a frisky cheerleader climbs onto a trampoline and begins stripping naked as she jumps up and down until she does a split and her skirt blows up without panties underneath. "You get the full 'Britney Spears-getting-out-of-the-limo view,' " our source says. Another jolting scene shows a grossly obese man chewing on a baby.
How much of these moviegoers will end up seeing is anybody's guess. "Some cuts definitely will have to be made. There's no question," conceded one studio insider. A Dimension rep declined comment. --------------------------------------------------- Oh boy, cutting stuff out of an EXPLOITATION film, I may barf. They better get an R without having to cut.

What do you guys have to say about this article? I read the whole thing and it does seem unlikely that Tarantino could have the same idea right after the guy sent the thing, but I swear I heard Rodriguez came up with the idea. Did anyone else hear that? And it does seem likely that more than one person could come up with this film. Filmmaker Stephen Tramontana Claims Tarantino stole his Grindhouse Idea! From: hollywood saloon Will I Be Watching Tarantino's Grindhouse? No. Quentin Tarantino is a thieving piece of shit and he knows it. He stole Grindhouse from a bunch of kids who were just asking for his help and he helped them by stealing their title and concept. Let me explain. For those who don't know, I made a film called Grindhouse in 2003. We actually started shooting it in 2002, but went to the festivals and got reviews in 2003, winning BEST HORROR FILM in the New York International Film and Video Festival. We also got many favorable mentions from established publications such as Fangoria and Rue Morgue. The movie was low, low, low budget. Which made sense, because that's what Grindhouse films were – really low budget movies that had little artistic merit. Most of the reviewers got that. They realized what we realized – if you're going to make a horror movie with $4,000 – the smart bet is to redo a Grindhouse film where the low budget and all that comes with it are celebrated. We approached Tarantino twice during the life of Grindhouse. The first time is when producer Lenny Shteynberg and I were at the premier after party for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in Westwood. Tarantino was there, and to his credit, he was very approachable. I told him that we were going to shoot a new kind of Grindhouse movie, and asked if we could show it to him when we were finished. He politely declined, and we parted friends. It would be two years later – November 2003- after we finished production (and won our award), that we again approached Tarantino. We knew the movie was too tiny for a theatrical run, but thought maybe we could get a direct to DVD deal. Through industry contacts, I found the business address for his production company, and Fed Ex'd a copy of the film and the poster. It was signed for by a "C. Hill." or Chill. I knew he received it, and just hoped that got what we were trying to do. Kill Bill was on the radar, so I thought it was good timing for us. We never heard from Tarantino or anyone in his production company. Cut to 2005. I was now working for a production company as a Post Coordinator. I picked up an issue of the trade publication Variety, announcing: Tarantino was making a film called GRINDHOUSE. Not our Grindhouse, something he was teaming up with Robert Rodriguez on. I was heartbroken. One of my heroes had ripped us off. And it wasn't like we were anybody. We were nobodies, trying to get ahead with our tiny film like he had almost a decade before. I had our entertainment attorney call Dimension Films, where Tarantino was setting the film up. I tried to stop them from using the title Grindhouse because I own it. I am the only person with the title Grindhouse registered with the copyright office. Dimension came back and said that Tarantino's was called Death Proof, not Grindhouse. Yes, we retorted, but you're not releasing it as Death Proof, you're releasing it as Grindhouse. They came back with, essentially, take us to court and see what happens to you. I didn't want to take them to court; I wanted them not to use the title. It sucks, because now I'm that guy. I'm that guy stating that a big Hollywood player ripped off my idea. We all know how that looks. But, a. I made the movie – anyone can see it. and b. he's constantly referenced the day in 2003 when he got the idea to make a movie called Grindhouse. My bet is that it was the day he opened my Fed Ex. Maybe he didn't even watch the movie, but he had to have seen the poster, and maybe that was all it took. Tarantino has f**k over people before – just ask his old writing buddy Roger Avary, whom he destroyed and left for dead in his post-Pulp Fiction rise. But I never thought he would turn on other indie filmmakers. And what's sad is, there were sacrifices on our end, too. My Grindhouse cost me two long-standing friendships over a business dispute. That was a regrettable situation, and one that burns me even more now that we really have nothing to show for it, and probably won't be able to. It takes away from their hard work, as well as everyone who sweated out weekends and endless time to try and make our little movie work. People could say that there have been numerous movies with the same title. Gladiator comes to mind. To me, there's no way on God's green earth, that two movies called Grindhouse devoted to the idea of those old films, could be released. And it's weird that it happened after our film was released and got a fair amount of press in the genre circles. So am I going to see it? No. Do I want you to not go see it? No. If you want to see it, please do. I knew someone who worked post on that show, and for what they went through to deliver Tarantino's film, I hope the movie does well. They deserve it. What Tarantino deserves is to be called out for the thief that he is. He's a complete piece of shit with no code of ethics for the industry that gave him his start – the indie industry. If there's any justice in the world, he'll fall out of favor and have to watch as his long, long-gestating World War 2 epic, Inglorious Bastards, gets handed over to Lloyd Kauffman to produce and Uwe Boll to direct. -Stephen Tramontana End of Article Part 1. So, this has been an exciting week. To be honest, I don’t think that any of us expected the type of reaction that this has received. I thought it would be good to answer some of the questions and points that have arisen. Just so people understand: I never said that Tarantino stole our story. Death Proof and Grindhouse (’03), to my knowledge, have no shared story threads or scenes. Our whole point in this exercise was to call out someone who we believed ran with the concept. Tarantino talks a lot, a lot, about what he intends to make. Inglorious Bastards. The Vega Brothers Movie. More Kill Bills in both live action and animated form. I don’t believe I ever read anything before 2004 about wanting to do a Grindhouse feature. Nor a double feature. Nor a movie about a killer with a fast car. To all those calling out the “copyright the title” claim, that was meant to be taken into consideration for what the copyright was for. It was for the screenplay. The entire reason behind that claim was validate the date for the start of production for our film, so it wasn’t just a claim of “I asked Quentin to make my movie at party.” It was, we made the movie, we tried to protect it (through the writers guild and the copyright office) for our future, and still lost out. On a side note, ironically, I just found out Quentin made this same claim against the producers of Casino Royal for “stealing his take on the material.” He just wanted a shout out from them of being the guy that came with the concept of returning Bond to his down and dirty roots. I guess that’s the best way to sum up our complaint. Thanks, Quentin. Our movie will not stand up to the Weinstein’s 60 million dollar extravaganza. We made the f**k thing for $4,000 on weekends with whatever we could scratch up. It was a starter film, at best to be something to show we could make a feature. It was meant to be sloppy, to be watched drunk or stoned, to enjoy as…well…a low budget Grindhouse movie. What people don’t realize is that this isn’t about money. This isn’t about getting our film “out there.” Trust me, we never thought this film, in this version, was going to be a launch. We hoped that someone would see it and maybe give us more money to remake it with a decent budget. This is about standing up for yourself. This man has a history of outright stealing shit and it’s time for someone to just call him out on it and not waiver. And those who are so offended that I would have the audacity to call out Tarantino on such flimsy evidence, I say I really don’t care. A thief is a thief, famous or no. I don’t believe anyone in the history of Hollywood has successfully proved theft of ideas. So, I didn’t honestly expect this to go any better. That being said, unless you’re completely uneducated about his career history, he is known for being a complete thief who writes great dialogue. But stop stealing shit, calling it referential, putting good music to it, and making everybody worship you for it. As for the claim that we’re doing this to drive sales for our film, to “piggyback off the success of Grindhouse (07).” it simply isn’t true. We’re not getting rich off 99 cent downloads, trust me. Lenny and I have decided that stay true to what we’re trying to do here, for everyone who buys a copy of our Grindhouse, we’re donating the money to an independent film fund. The couple of hundred bucks we make from downloads will pay for some future indie’s catering. Who will receive the money will be posted tomorrow. I posted this at a blog the other day, but it essentially is our review for the film from Film Threat. It by no means is a glowing review, but I think it understands what we were trying to accomplish with limited means: www.filmthreat.com/index.php?section=reviews&Id=5591We truly appreciate the support we’ve received amidst all the negative blogs (and even to you negative guys – you’ve single handily brought this issue to everyone we needed it to go to). This has been fun. End of Article Part 2.

I believed Rodriguez had come up with the idea and pitched it to Tarantino. Anyway, I don't believe anyone these days who says that had their idea jacked from them by a big name fella. Tarantino may have gotten the idea to make a Grindhouse movie from the low budget one he saw, but he didn't steal anything from it other than the title, which wasn't copyrighted if I read that correctly.
On another note, I drove to the theater today, while my dad wasn't paying attention, to try to see this. But, he wouldn't go and I was disappointed.

I agree with you, wkw; I wouldn't buy that for a dollar. Sorry, I don't know that much about grindhouse and I only know a little bit about exploitation movies in general, but the trailer just seemed to lack anything that would make a movie an exploitation. Just was generic horror bullshit, made by some kids who met Tarantino. Besides, the kids should think of this as a tribute to their piece of shit movie. I'm tired now, so I can't be bothered about legality, but yeah, the kid doesn't own the term Grindhouse, and titles are reused all the time. (Not to be bothered for other examples, either.) I'd just ignore this guy completely and go rewatch Grindhouse if I were you.
