The opening part were all the nominees were talking was pretty funny, I laughed when Eddie Murphy just sat there and didn't say anything.

My favorite part was the Ennio Morricone Segment. Too bad someone had to sing after.

It was overall a pretty good show, Ellen was a interesting host, and the awards were actually deserved this year.

I don't really care that much, but if Scorsese is happy, then I am happy. It wouldn't have changed my opinion or anything when it comes to Scorses, whether he had gotten his oscar or not. I mean, what's the big deal?
But, as said, if Scorsese is happy (which he has all the reason to be) then I'm happy. Go Scorsese!
When that's said, I hope he turns back to the more gritty, daring side of him. Yeah, I know, The Departed has some brutal violence, but it didn't really feel gritty enough. The grittiness (or what is it called?) was somewhat polished, I felt. I want films with lower budget from Marty. More real feelings, less light, more darkness. Films with a stronger, more noticeable root back to the good old days (the Mean Streets- and Taxi Driver-feeling, that's what I long for).

If I was him I would be pissed to win, but I am not him, and he was probably happy. I know exactly what you mean, when looking back at his old films (Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, etc.) you can see and feel the dirtiness of it, it is so much more real. With The Departed it was so clean, like you said, but which isn't necessarily a problem, since the film was fantastic [for me], but I do wish he would return to the "streets" if you catch my drift. Although I doubt that will happen anytime soon, probably never. It may be wrong of us to want his films to look the way they did back in the day, but I don't really know. It seems like we would be happy that he is getting bigger budgets to make films, yet we are not. I guess we lean towards low budgeted works.

I catch your drift.
His latest films (Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed) have been good, but not nearly as interesting as his previous efforts. They're solid, nice-looking, ok, in periods great, you know, but ultimately they are too hollow... There's some vital elements missing; I think Scorsese was more naked in the 70s and 80s. Has he been trying as hard as he can to get the oscar he got this other day, and by that dressed his films in more appetizing clothes? I don't think that, but something has been lost through the years. I hope he can come back with a masterpiece and not merely a 'good' film.

Perhaps Scorsese has done Gangs of New York, The Aviator and The Departed on the simgle purpose of building up economy for his future films? If it's true what I've been reading, Scorsese will work independent from now on and do more personal and different films. Scorsese have tried with various films in the past but got thumbs down from studios, for example "Silence".

I have been seeing this all over the news:
Murphy "Storms Out" After Oscar Loss
Dreamgirls star Eddie Murphy was so devastated after losing the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award to Alan Arkin he stormed out of the ceremony, according to press reports in the US, including Roger Friedman of FoxNews.com. Murphy was the favorite to win the Oscar, which instead was awarded to Little Miss Sunshine star Arkin. The 45-year-old tried to downplay his disappointment telling American publication Us Weekly, "It's fine. It happens. It's OK." But shortly thereafter, Murphy and girlfriend Tracey Edmonds left the show and didn't return. Murphy missed out on his Dreamgirls cast mates Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Hudson and Anika Noni Rose performing songs from the film, as well as Hudson's win for Best Supporting Actress.
