I love Brick. Johnson's new film, The Brothers Bloom, is worth a look as well. He's making the types of movies that don't get made much anymore. I'm a huge fan of his work.

I bought Down by Law from a sweet store in NYC, Academy Records. They have a few shelves with all rare movies and really cheap Criterions. Brand new Criterions are $20 and used ones are less. I'm excited to watch the movie again, it's been one I wanted to have in my collection for a while.

In case y'all didn't know, all the Hollywood Videos are going out of business!! They have ridiculously cheap DVDs right now, and still tons to pick from (at least the ones in Erie, PA [specifically the 26th street one]). I just walked there and picked up quite a few movies: A Serious Man, Melinda and Melinda, Brothers Bloom, Undertow, Rushmore Criterion (only $3!!!), Moon (heard it was amazing), and My Effortless Brilliance (from the guy who did Humpday). I got those and tons of snacks for only $30. All the DVDs they have are 3, except the brand new ones are 5. So good. If anyone wants to hit up the 26th street one in Erie they have a brand new copy of Curious Case of Benjamin Button Criterion for $11. And a lot more.

Went back and picked up a few more: Amores Perros, Crimes and Misdemeanors and Flirting with Disaster. Is Flirting with Disaster any good? I thought I remembered hearing it was so I just bought it, but I don't know.

Good! I am glad I didn't waste my money on some shitty mediocre comedy, then.
I seriously just went to The Exchange (a local used/new DVD/game/CD store) to sell a few shitty as fuck things and I was looking through their really cheap dollar DVDs which normally always suck and my eyes immediately jumped to an old ass Criterion logo. It was Fishing with John Criterion for $1!!! I'm so happy. I've been meaning to check this show out since I heard Jarmusch was in it. I also sold my old TCM 2 and picked up the "Gruesome Edition" with commentary and an hour and a half documentary!

it's fucking amazing. i might even like it better than beavis and butthead. they had to get rid of 99% of the original music in order to ever put it out on dvd, but they left the most important music that relates to the story. but they included a bunch of special features including both movies, so i'll let it slide. if you don't get a chance to buy/rent it before i'm done with it, you can borrow it.

i found some good buys while i was in cleveland a week ago. i got the new high and low 2 disc for only 14 dollars, i got eisenstein the sound years boxset for only 20, and i got degrassi next generation season 8 for only 10. too good a deal to pass up. i also bought orphic trilogy from a sale some guy was having online. he was selling tons of rare oop shit that i just missed out on. everything was only 10 except boxsets were 25. he had this is spinal tap and the killer, too. i was so pissed.

i bought south park season 13 for only 13 dollars, which completes my collection for now. and i bought a david f. friedman something weird triple feature dvd for only like 6 something.
