anyone see 'spielberg on spielberg' on TCM? if not, try to catch it if they reshow it. great insight into his thinking on many of his movies and movie making in general.
his resume of films is BRILLIANT. even people who HATE HIM (for the sake of hating him) STILL HAVE MOVIES MADE BY HIM THAT THEY LOVE!
"i hate him, but, yeah, i have to admit, i do love 'FILL IN THE BLANK'"
if i ever get to making my top 10 directors....it's a tight battle between him and hitchcock.
"if i were stranded on a desert island, who's movies could i not live without?"

I watched, and it was fantastic. It reminded be of how good some of his movies are. Jesus, he just has an incredible list of films. Duel, Sugarland Express, Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders, E.T., Color Purple, Empire of the Sun, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, A.I., Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, Munich. I was surprised by some things I learned. Mostly that Kubrick originally intended for A.I. to end the way it did. I always thought that was a Spielberg touch, but I guess not. It's unfortunate, because it would be one of his best movie if it ended where it should have. (It's still a really good movie, though) yeah, that whole kubrick thing also surprised me, i thought it was a well-known fact that 'berg's ending was different than kubrick, but i guess not. still, spielberg should have realized that the better ending was not going further, and just leaving them down there, and changed what kubrick had "intended" to do. kubrick probably would have changed it himself if he made the movie, after he saw how good it is. don't you guys agree? it was overall and really good documentary, but i wish they would have talked about some of the films they didn't, and also mention his work on some other films he wrote and stuff. he reminded me of how good schindler’s list is.

Spielberg May Direct Sorkin's Trial Source: Variety July 12, 2007
DreamWorks has made a deal with Aaron Sorkin to write three films, the first of which will be The Trial of the Chicago 7, a drama that Steven Spielberg hopes to direct.
Variety says the drama focuses on the trials of protestors at the 1968 Democratic convention in Chicago, where clashes between demonstrators and police made it one of the defining events of the 60s.
Spielberg and producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have been developing the film with Sorkin for some time.
The celebrated writer's credits range from the NBC drama "The West Wing" to the stage play "A Few Good Men," which he scripted into a hit movie. Sorkin most recently adapted the George Crile book Charlie Wilson’s War into a Playtone-produced Mike Nichols-directed film that stars Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
