Hey, man- this is 3cardmonty (from the YMDB board)- I've been making short films since highschool and I'm shooting a full-length one in Toronto this summer. I am actually doing a short film this weekend as a school project with some of the people from this board. When I finish I will try to post the short. I will check out your shorts later tonight and I will post my comments on them here. Thanks for joining I hope we can have some great discussion.

Not in film school yet. I am still making films for fun. But I took this class and we get to be as creative as we want for this last project so it should be pretty cool. Do you go to film school?

I'm actually finishing up University for film today- my last film exam is at 7pm tonight. Haha, I guess I should maybe study, but since it's film, I probably am in a way right now. My school's mostly theory though cause I learned the technical through an internship while I was in highschool, so University just lets me see a lot of films that I couldn't see otherwise.

Could you give some examples of great films you have seen? I am always looking for great films. I see you have Godard as you avatar. Very nice but I still need to dig into Godard. I will soon.

Oh man... In school? Check out Ugetsu (directed by Mizoguchi), Breathless, Alphaville (by Godard), one of my personal favourites is Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye. Sword of Doom is a good one- definitely check out some of Vittorio DeSica's neo-realist work like The Bicycle Theives or Umberto D, they're both amazing. It really depends on your preferences, you know?

I have seen a bunch of those. Yes Ugetsu is amazing! And I have access to some of those other films through Criterion Collection DVD's. Thanks for the recommendations!  I really am looking forward to some of those. |

One of my teacher is Johannes Roberts who makes low budget straight to video horror films like forest of the damned. He hasn't had amazing success yet but he's still going and getting better with every film made by the looks of things. imdb.com/title/tt0417686/I say his films may be pretty poor but at least he's made films and had them distributed 40 countries worldwide, even that is impressive. |

Tbh I dont see my future in that area of film media. Basically because I'm not that good and it stresses me out too much. Their are like a million other jobs in the media film/tv industry apart from the obvious ones though.
