In Through the Out Door is unfairly disliked really. Its just Zep improving upon their sound. Adapting to the change in times if you will. It is their worst record no doubt, but that doesn't mean it is bad. You have to remember that Jimmy was pretty cracked out on heroin so his parts aren't exactly phenomenal, but he still plays some pretty decent stuff. ITTOD is not one of those records you can just listen to once. You have to dig deeper into it to truly appreciate. Overall, I think that if we gave Zep another album to work with, they would have perfected this sound and made another classic record provided that Jimmy and Bonham cleaned up a little. But alas, Bonham died and Zep disbanded. A shame really... Every Rush album is amazing, they are so distinctive. 2112 the song is such an opus. I love the part where the guy discovers the guitar for the first time. And starts playing it, it sounds so much like someone who first discovered a guitar would play (Discovery is what it is fittingly called), up until the chords at least. Of course, the writing and the rest of the music is so blazing. Especially the parts of the title song where they do the loud-soft dynamic emphasizing the difference between the guitar kid and the Priests. The rest of the songs on that record are spectacular too. A great mix of heavier stuff such as Something for Nothing and ballads like Tears. I see where you are coming from, but really, do you think if it wasn't Zeppelin you would have bought it? I know it is better than tons of other shit that comes out, but it still is just a practice record basically, like you said. How much did you pay for it? If it was cheap then I can see why you would buy it, or if you want to own all Zeppelin, otherwise, I doubt a sub-par zeppelin album would get much play, especially when looking at their other stuff. I will end up listening to it again though, since I downloaded it haha. Yes, that song was fucking epic.

I payed 18.99 for it and its completely worth the money because a sub-par Zeppelin record is better than 90% than everything else out there.

Oh my word! There's this guy who's been collecting LPs for twenty years... And he brought all 2000+ to my house... ARRGGGHHH! Audio explosion! My living room is stacked! He's got everything from The Rolling Stones, to Billy Idol, to all the David Bowie records, to The Beach Boys to Adam and The Ants to Tracy Chapman to Rod Stewart and I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO NAME ONE TENTH of all the records here. One thing I'm pretty impressed with: One of the originals, with the real zip in.

You probably would - for instance, I have the very first Rolling Stones record to EVER come out. Hah! Actually, I don't want to start naming all the things you'd be jealous of, I don't have three months. I have one! But it just doesn't work, I just have to figure out how to get it connected to the computer again. But when I do, that's the first picture I'll take.

Probably, they were around at the same time, recorded in the same studio, released their records on the same record label, were from the same city. I bet they probably exchanged song titles at some point.
