Got LCD Soundsystems a few weeks ago, finally got around to listening to it and did about 5 times through this past weekend. I fucking love this music. Its like ratatat added a dude to their group with a twitch of dance. For whatever reason it made me think of daft punk so my next binge will definitely be on Daft Punk albums.
LCD Soundsystems - 10/10. This shit is so baller.

Hmm, new Stooges wasn't any good? The Asheton's were good on it. But the songs were weak, imo at least.

1. emmure - "goodbye to the gallows"
i have probably heard more, but i can't remember. any metal fan would dig emmure, but might not like them during their metalcore songs as much. if you like heavy breakdowns, though, you would dig the whole album. definitely a band i think will get better and better, and one i need to see live. i already went to their show before, and they never showed up!

^I love you trying to justify these shitty metalcore bands. I heard three songs and I quit listening. They sound the same as every other metalcore band.

i wasn't trying to justify them, i think they are a fantastic band, i was just saying who might like them. i might have a song for you to hear sometime, but i figured you wouldn't like them.

I noticed that there are no albums that have come out this year that I can really listen to whenever i want to. No really spectacular albums that we will remember for years to come.
Besides Person Pitch.

I'm not sure how many full albums I've heard this year, I don't think many. So...
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away The White Stripes - Icky Thump

Besides Person Pitch. ahhh, you speak with a new level of musical self-confidence and snobbery only possible through seeing Sonic Youth live and through (i assume from your saying "unless you were at the Pitchfork Festival" on the other thread) becoming a reader of Pitchfork. you know i disagree, but i won't argue. Well, no. I mentioned the Pitchfork Festival because it had the concert I went to, plus Slint playing Spiderland and GZA playing liquid swords, thus probably a bit zestier. And about that new level of self-confidence and snobbery being possible through seeing Sonic Youth live is wrong, it was when I started studying the album preparing for the concert.

Eh, I didn't listen to much this year, but my favorites are... (favorite tracks in parentheses) 1. Magic- Bruce Springsteen ("Girls in Their Summer Clothes," "Long Walk Home") 2. Icky Thump- The White Stripes ("You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As You're Told)," "A Martyr For My Love For You") 3. In Rainbows- Radiohead ("15 Step," "Videotape") 4. The Else- They Might Be Giants ("With the Light," "Feign Amnesia") 5. Neon Bible- The Arcade Fire ("Intervention," "No Cars Go")
That's pretty much the stuff I listened to repeatedly throughout the year, so there you go. Also liked the Robert Plant/Alison Krauss disc, the new Coheed and Cambria (sorry), and a few others. It was a decent year, overall. Hopefully, this year will be better.

rateyourmusic.com/collection/Zombiepaper/strm_relyear,ss.rd/2007 Not really sure I'd put those in my favorites, but I haven't really listened to much music from 2004-2008, so you'll have to excuse me a bit. I found my favorite album (so far) from last year because the singer is a redhead and the picture I saw got me interested, but fortunately I ended up really enjoying her singing, especially in a live setting. Actually kind of expanded my musical interests out a little bit; made me curious in checking out Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Cole Porter Songbook. Ha, just like Tim, I wasn't impressed with Neon Bible, which I just checked out because it was sitting there and I was slightly curious in checking out some Arcade Fire, since I had heard material off Funeral shortly before losing interest in the study of music. Honestly, the only song I even liked was My Body Is A Cage, everything else was mehishy. So I'm trying to figure this one out still... if Grindhouse: Planet Terror recycled its theme several different times, is it wrong that it seems ineffective on the album yet effective in the movie? Because I am a big fan of the theme, but hearing it ten thousand times kind of wears its welcome. So does that mean soundtracks are only for reference purposes, and therefore are not the same as albums? Fucking critical analysis of music. I didn't take Music 107 for a reason!
