Went to a friend's house to watch the fight. De la Hoya is classy and I really wish he would have won. I hope Mayweather doesn't decide to retire, just so one of those undefeated guys can knock him on his ass.

Nobody will ever knock Mayweather on his ass (especially if he retires), because nobody will ever land a clean hit on him. One round, de la Hoya was 7 out of 62 for punches thrown. Mayweather is a beast.

He is a defensive beast, but I would still like to see him take one of the other unbeaten ones to see how he fares.

Cake pretty much rocks. That's my favorite song of theirs I think. I love Cake's cover of "I Will Survive." It is so much better than the original.

Started netball practice again! It's actually not as bad as I thought, I'm glad to get moving again, surprisingly.

I didn't smoke weed all day today. Plus tonight I have no plans on smoking weed. Today will be the first since at least three years ago when I was trying to get a job. Tomorrow im going to try and not smoke any cigarettes. I got Broncitus (sp?) and got a perscription for 'Chantix', its a pill that helps you quit smoking, but you get to smoke for the 1st week you take em so I get to smoke for 5 more days excluding my test run tomorrow.

We lost a netball match just now, badly. Got the best damn ideas ever for the show I have to direct to perform in June. Damn! I was smokin'! It's pretty cool, this being the director thing.

Being addicted isn't that bad, cause Newport smoke taste really good imo. I just need to quit so I can start feeling better. I'll miss it for sure, and I doubt ill ever be able to be completely drunk and not smoke a pack,.

Smoking is a tough addiction to beat, one of my friends had to get over it once. It was hell for him.
Anyway, on a much lighter note, I haven't been home till now all day. School from 8:15-3. Basketball from 3-5, Dad's office from 5-6:30, and finally, work from 6:45-11. Fun day huh?

I did well on my Statistics final despite slacking off on it most of the semester. My professor was so lazy that she just copied the practice final and changed some numbers.

I need to get a job really soon, but I don't think I want to work in the summer, because I want to pull a Dazed and Confused some days, and on other days I want to film/watch film. But definitely next school year I want to get a job, hopefully one at Hollywood Video. Anyone ever work at a rental place, or a place that has to do with entertainment?

I work at a movie theatre, and it's a blast, though the pay is not well. I'm not for sure, but when I asked Blockbuster for an application, they said I needed to be 18.

The place I work at had some problems employing people under 18. One kid, who was 17 at the time, was able to use the child labor laws to avoid having to work as late as everyone else did. I don't really remember that being much of a problem, but I think he did say that he made less than everyone else, or something like that.
So, pros include being able to really choose your own hours. Cons include maybe not getting proper respect (Ageism!) and maybe getting less pay because you lack work experience / because they can.
I waited until I was 18 to start at a part time job. Didn't really need money before then and no tuition. Now, I'm getting by, but I need to work a little more frequently.

I only ever do volunteer work at AIDS orphanages or research clinics for AIDS or at pre-schools in underpriviledged communities. It isn't really like work, I love it You have to be sixteen to work here, but I have something to do over holidays at a corrupt bar that needs extra waitresses over those times.

Well, volunteering is different from employment. I might be stating the obvious here a bit, but with volunteers, they can work in exchange for work experience and perhaps a better foot in the door than just submitting your resume (you know, unpaid internship kind of stuff). Also, if you've ever had to fill out taxes, you'll know just how complicated it is for one party to give money to another party, outside of your normal going down to Mickey Dee's and ordering a few Mc Veggie Burgers Without The Vegetables. It's odd, but that's life.

I know this October I will be working at that Eerie Horror Film Festival, since I know the guy. I don't know if I will be getting paid, but if not, it will still be fun. That is so gay you have to be 18 to work at a DVD rental place, maybe it won't be the same for Hollywood Video. Maybe it was because Blockbuster had like a porno section or something. Does anyone know if they do? I don't think Hollywood Video does.
Also… about volunteering, I would probably only do it if it was something I wanted to do, like work around film or music. That would be sweet. Oh, yeah, unless you count having to do stupid fucking ass service hours at our school as volunteering. It is more like being forced. We have to do like 20 hours a year. Does/did anyone else have to do stupid service hours?

Well, the thing is, employers could either choose to hire you guys have have to worry about all the child labor laws, or just say "no job for you until you're over 18."
