For Goodfellas, they could just slap a Criterion banner on the 2-disc edition, because that DVD is so good.

It isn't that good. It only has 40 minutes of interviews (alot promotional) and an edited from interview commentary.

I think they should get at least 1 Western on Criterion. Like a really dark one such as Mccabe and Mrs. Miller or Unforgiven.

Thats not good enough. It is good, but they could pick better. How about High Plains Drifter? Anyone see that? I think that would fit well.

I have not. But I would like to see a John Ford Cavalry Trilogy Box Set. That would be amazing.

I only said Fistful of Dynamite beacause it's not on DVD at all yet. And not every movie criterion releases must be one of the best ever. The back of every DVD says "important contemporary and classic films" That does not mean good.

I think The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is a overrated piece of horror-cinema. It creates a nice enough atmosphere, but I don`t think it`s the masterpiece many seems to be calling it. The film is bad in parts, but overrall OK. Not good enough for Criterion, in other words.

Interesting points you make there. But it doesn`t affect my honest opinion (at least not until I see it again). The film lacks many important qualities I look for in films. But I have no problem understanding people who like it. Its just that I cant see that It belongs on Criterion. It just isn`t worthy such a nice dvd-package in my eyes.
