Only got three releases for this year, and all of them were fantastic, but...
1. Seven Samurai
2. Dazed and Confused
3. Mr. Arkadin

Only bought two releases this year, Seven Samurai and Brazil. Both are great.

seven samurai may be the best dvd release i've ever purchased. 2 commentaries, plenty of docs, the 2 hour interview w/ kurosawa, the booklet as fat as a small novel, the nicest looking box art i've ever seen... fitting for my all-time favorite movie  |

What are your thoughts on this year? What were the best and worst releases? The films I have seen: Bad Sleep Well 9/10 The 400 Blows 10/10 Viridiana 9/10 (maybe 10/10) Dazed and Confused 10/10 Yi Yi 10/10 Kicking and Screaming 2/10 Brazil 8/10 Amarcord 10/10 Seven Samurai 10/10 Best DVD this year from them would easily be Dazed and Confused. You really got to look at it in long-term. I mean how many times are you going to watch the docs on Seven Samurai, a few maybe? Or listen to those commentaries, maybe a couple times? Whereas I have already listened to the Dazed commentary about 6 times, and it is great each time. And I have watched that doc 3 times. Both things I know I will revist many 'a times. Worst would easily be Kicking and Pretentious. |
