Tim Burton fans do not try to stab me with a knife. Tim Burton fans do not attempt to bite me when i disturb their sleep at 5 o clock in the afternoon. Tim Burton fans do not steal 300 dollars from me to take a trip to Japan. Fuck anime and all who obsessively watch it.

Okay, my thoughts on Japanese animation are as follows. I will use numbers in order to provide you with statistical information that can be brought to any respectable bank in the world and cashed in for valid tender.


In my opinion:

75% of anime could be completely destroyed off the face of this planet right now, and I would not be concerned. Of course, I would get to decide what is included in this 75%, but you could reasonably assume that what these shows are.

12% of anime could be completely destroyed off the face of this planet right now, and I might be a little concerned. This would include shows that I might like to catch every so often, but have no interest in buying or owning.

8% of anime could be completely destroyed off the face of this planet right now, and I would show some signs of concern. Not too much, you understand. These would be the shows and movies I enjoy, and might even consider eventually owning at length, but don't carry much clout with them.

5% of anime could be completely destroyed off the face of this planet right now, and, my opinion would be that it would be a shame.

The numbers could change slightly, but that's how I see it right at this very minute.


I can understand completely and fully why people could get disillusioned with anime. There's just so much fucking bullshit. Shit that people might like, sometimes for very simple reasons, but at the end of the day, is still shit. Subpar work that might have been cool and nifty in its day, but won't hold water in the near future.

However, there are works that are completely valid. Not too many, as I explained earlier, but a select few.


Hopefully that was a reasonable enough post. It might be like trying to convert a person from one religion to another. Or trying to convince a person that there is a respectable artistic merit to Star Wars; if the person just doesn't see it, they'll think you're a nerd that's out of your fucking mind.

(As a footnote: If I never go to Japan in my life, I would not be concerned. And, I don't consider myself an "otaku," or what BeeeeeeeeeeeD described in his last post.)
