The Judges for Spielberg and Burnett's Lot Source: Variety Source #2: Hollywood Saloon April 25, 2007
Steven Spielberg and Mark Burnett have hired several big-name film veterans to help launch their upcoming Fox reality series "On the Lot."
Carrie Fisher ("Star Wars" films), Brett Ratner (Rush Hour 3, X-Men: The Last Stand), Garry Marshall (Georgia Rule) and Jon Avnet (88 Minutes) will serve as judges on the first round of "On the Lot," which debuts May 22 (behind the penultimate "American Idol"), and continues on May 24.
The show will start with a group of 50 applicants, who are sent to Los Angeles to attend a "Hollywood Boot Camp." They'll meet with the four judges and screen their personal submission film; as well as pitch their project; show and edit a short film within 24 hours; and then shoot a one-page scene within an hour.
The judges then will select the top 18 finalists, who will move on to the first "film premiere" episode May 28.
Spielberg and Burnett created and executive produce "On the Lot," which is offering a $1 million DreamWorks development deal to its winner.

Are you kidding me? Ratner judging this!? Is anyone looking forward to this show?

I'll watch one episode to see how it is. Probably be the only time I ever watch it for I deplore reality TV.

Well, reality TV having to do with film could be good. Did you ever hear of the show Project Greenlight? You would definitely dig it.

I've heard of it. But I just don't really have any interest in it. I'm not a TV guy...

You would definitely like it, if it is out on DVD you should rent it, any of the seasons, they are all very fun. I still want to see the actual films that got made.

HAHA! Yes, it is SO BAD, yet so good. I can't help but watch. All these judges embarrass themselves, yesterday the dude who did Distubia was guest judge. haha! And, all the directors want to be Hollywood, unoriginal, retards. I still dig watching it, since it is about film. I encourage everyone to check it out, you get some good laughs, and it is pretty cool. I would say it's a so-good-it's-bad show. Ratner makes me sick, too. He said some stupid shit so far.

Just remember, your movie can make it in Hollywood if it has "A beginning, a middle, and an end."
Also note that the biggest laugh on that show was puking aliens...goddamn. Pathetic. Im rooting for that independant guy.

Im rooting for that independant guy. Oh man, after the 500th "beginning, middle, and end" comment I said "if they say that again I may have to kill someone," then, what do you know, they said it again! Man, really, a film doesn't need any of those things all the time, and how much they are stressing it is just pissing me off. I didn't even think that puking aliens one was that funny. Which guy do you mean (that you are rooting for)?

Oh yeah, at least he tried to do something different, unlike the other ones. So many clichéd overused jokes were used in the other one. Did you watch the one last night? Michael Bay was guest! I was laughing, yet he was easily the best judge so far, at least he knows how to make a film, Carrie Fisher doesn't know anything about that. Some of the films last night were fun, but like before, they are nothing amazing or special. If I was on that thing, I would film something super grainy, with an underground filmmaking feel, no matter how much money I had, just to hear what they had to say about it.

Kenny stole the goddamned show tonight. While most assholes wont appreciate his talent, the man made a Vincent Gallo (he looks like him too)/Harmony Korine-esqe film. The man doesnt need this show, he needs supporters like us to watch any independent works he makes.
The girl who made that movie with her son about having sex with the neighborhood was absolutely repulsive and terrible. Two of the three judges like it the best, but I sure hated it.
The host is hot, but so annoying, she loses sexiness points. It almost seems like the show is about her.
Idk, but this show is getting slightly more addicting, now that I have 2 people to root for (Kenny and that female director from the previous week who made that documentary).

holy hell, i just watched. i never thought something like that would be on this show. man, what did the judges say about that? i can't wait to see what the guy does next, or see what he could do with a feature-length. Carrie Fisher went out and said it sucked, and it was more of a rock video than anything. Her only complament for Kenny was that he was cute and the host should go out with him. (go figure, like i said, the show is about the host). The special guest judge said that he has great visual talent, and should be proud, but he wasnt blown away. Garry Marshall said it was a great visual poem, but he thinks that Kenny will leave the show because it isnt what the audience is looking for (which is true), but he still thought it was awesome, but not the best. I particularly liked this video the best because the shots reminded me of Harmony Korine's Julien Donkey-Boy, and the subject matter reminded me of Gallo's The Brown Bunny. This movie wasnt going for cheapass laughs, like the other ones. The others were banking on a final punchline, that none of them could create. This was a real short film. I hope he makes more masterpieces to come.
