I think this is the best Hitchcock film. It is perfect in every way. The performances are amazing and believable. The story is so much fun. Perfect film and one of my all-time favorites. Great Simpsons parody called Bart of Darkness. If you haven't seen this classic episode you should go check it out!

i said we should watch Rear Window at my old school and everyone was so pissed because the teacher listened to me instead of the whole class who said spiderman, and no one gave it a chance and they all hated it and to this day people still bring it up. Blackmoses, devin, and more all hated it! Ptahole was the only one who liked it besides me. It just makes me sick.

Saw it yesterday. Being the only Hitchcock I've seen other than Vertigo, I have to say that it's very good, though I was kind of disappointed because I expected some kind of brilliant twist like in Vertigo. I liked how everything we see is what stewart, which is crucial to the suspense of this film. The performances are excellent, though Stewart is better in Vertigo. This also lack the depth that Vertigo has.

well very few movies period are gonna have the depth that Vertigo has, so don't feel disappointed in that regard with Rear Window. and Stewart's excellent here, though I agree that he's better in Vertigo (by far his best performance IMO). also, notice how you basically never leave the apartment, and there's no music in the movie other than, say, the piano player next door or radios in other apartments? adds to the realism and the "you are there" feeling.
might not be hitchcock's "best" movie, but it's in all likelihood his most nifty and innovative.
