Which is your favorite from this amazing decade? I had to take many good ones out to fit all the ones I wanted to.

I voted Star Wars as a personal favorite, but the best is probably Clockwork Orange or the Godfather.

VERY tough...probably the best decade in the history of film...my favorite is probably Star Wars, but I gotta say that the best film is The Godfather.

Barry Lyndon, but damn this decade is great! Will there ever be another decade like the 70s? Sure hope, but I doubt.

oh my gosh having to choose a favorite from the seventies...that's one of the hardest decisions i've ever had to make. i mean there were so many other cool ones that weren't even on there! i don't care what the hisorians say, this was the true golden age of hollywood.

My #2 slot has the Godfather. So, until I see the second Godfather movie, I'm just going to have to say either I or II. III doesn't count, for a couple of reasons, but still gotta watch it too. But I haven't voted yet, so when I do, it'll be for either I or II. That is the firmness of the law.
edit: These thoughts have changed. I loved the book, but the movie was just so hard to sit through that twice I couldn't even finish it.

Taxi Driver had the biggest impact on me out of that list, though McCabe & Mrs. Miller is my current favorite. Dog Day Afternoon left a big impression on me the the first time I saw it, though it has diminshed over time. Suspiria is my second favorite movie of all time, though I think Taxi Driver is actually better overall. Chinatown is definitely a favorite.
The Godfather movies are entertaining, but I can't call them favorites. Apocalypse Now isn't all it's cracked up to be. I probably like Barry Lyndon more tha A Clockwork Orange, if I was comparing Kubrick movies..

McCabe and Mrs. Miller. Robert Altman at his finest. Too bad it wasn't on the list. BTW, the topic was the best movie of the 70's. Other posts regarding movies outside this genre are so distracting. BUT, I'll have to agree that a very good new movie is Brick
Then again, this era had so many great movies. What happened?

I'm leaning more toward outside entry Enter the Dragon.
A lot of the things I think about, when I think of the 70s, appeared in that movie, so it has that part to it. Also, it's just so damn fun and really shows the philosopher side of Bruce Lee. (He was a philosophy major, after all.)
