The original is one of the best action/comedies of all time. Bruce and his one liners are priceless. The other sequels aren't that bad either for a change especially Die Hard with A Vengeance.

"Reluctant hero must defeat his enemies! He has no shoes!" Priceless. The first film is so much fun. Action-comedy? I wouldn't say so, but I see what you mean. I think it's a "pure" action movie with many funny lines, a bit like Hard Boiled, only... not that great. I mean, it's a great film, but John Woo kind of outclass McTiernan when it comes to the action sequences. Sorry. Still, Die Hard is an excellent action movie. The two others, well, I like them to one extent. But mostly it's just nostalgia kicking in.

I'm gonna see it. Die Hard is sort of nostalgia, you know. And you can't deny the power of nostalgia. When that's said, I feel the that direction the director have taken here, is somehow unfortunate. That thing in the trailer, when the car is flying in the air and is about to crush McClane and that other guy, feels somewhat over-the-top. Die Hard should, of course, be this "INcredible, but it could happen!"-kind-of-thing, but I'm afraid this is going to (maybe unconsciously) leave the charm behind and just put as many awesome (or "awesome") action sequences in as possible...
