I am PUMPED for this movie. I just found out the plot. It takes place after the first film, so Shredder died (never came back like in 2) The Foot Clan has been run by Karai (a comic character) for years, and the turtles have grown estranged, until a new threat reluctantly brings them back together. AWESOME!

Kevin Munroe on TMNT Source: Anne Neumann March 6, 2007
Kevin Munroe has just finished up his first feature length project as writer/director of TMNT. The Turtles first captured his attention in 1995 when he picked up a copy of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" from a Canadian used comic bin. He fell in love with the story and concepts then and there, but was in the right place at the right time when he landed the director's chair in 2004.
"When I went to meet with the co-creators of the Turtles, I brought issue one because I figured, worst case, I'll get my first issue signed if I don't get the job. He handed me back the book at the end and driving back to the airport I open it up and there was a picture of Raf and the note 'Dear Kevin, make a good movie or else!' and that's how I found out I got the job."
His biggest challenge has been to make a movie that would appeal to both Turtles fans and newcomers to the franchise. To that end this story is about the family. It picks up where all the adventures have left off and they've now grown apart. But monsters are attacking the world! So they must figure out how to come back together. "It's all about brothers," says Munroe, "especially Leo and Raf. They both want the same thing, but one is doing it in a very noble way and the other has become a vigilante."
Mako, who voices Master Splinter, was the one and only obvious choice for The Turtles' sensei and adoptive father, says Munroe. Mako died five months after completing his recordings in 2006 and there is a dedication to him at the end of the movie.
TMNT, featuring the voices of Patrick Stewart, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Chris Evans, Ziyi Zhang and Kevin Smith, opens in theaters on March 23.
Munroe's next movie is Gatchaman, a Japanese anime-style feature with western story appeal, due to appear in 2008.

Yes. Now how do Final Fantasy, an episodic game franchise, and TMNT, a sometimes dark, sometimes light comic book series have in common? A TMNT movie will be much easier to pull off, believe me. They've already made a fantastic Turtles flick (the 1990 live action movie) I know my TMNT, so don't even try to fool me.

No, mal, they're going to switch halfway through the movie to live action, and I know this because I'm cool. As for the vaguely dismissive thought on Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, that was slightly uncalled for, even though this isn't the place to get into an epic battle about the value of that movie. I do have my reservations about TMNT, but hopefully it will turn out well. "Munroe's next movie is Gatchaman, a Japanese anime-style feature with western story appeal, due to appear in 2008." Oh man, that doesn't sound good. I don't know if Amano-style art can transition to CGI, especially after seeing this image: It's doubtful that this is concept art from the movie, but still.

I think this looks like complete shit, the way it looks reminds me of a poorly done video game commercial. It just looks so terrible. The story is cool though, but it should have been live action (or not at all).

I'm not looking for a well crafted film here, Dan. I'm looking for a good Ninja Turtles movie, and I believe I'll get that.

I just watched another trailer and the bad jokes felt so forced. Now, I want bad jokes, but not when they suck in this way. The joke about the turtle's mom was horrible, and not in a good way. I just had a bad feeling about this, even as just a Turtles movie.

Well, most of the people that saw the film at a preview screening or something have said the joke count is quite low, and it is more akin to the comics or the first movie, so I'm not too worried in that regard.

I'm with PTAhole on this one. If you go to the cinema with the "right" attitude towards this film, I think you will have a nice time. Of course, I'm exclusively talking for myself.
