All I need to say is 10/10. In other words, this movie is made of golden victory and may success follow it everywhere. I don't feel like hunting everyone's opinion down, and we definitely need some discussion on this matter, but here's what sacrilegend said, because that's all I was able to find in about two seconds of searching. I also just came back from the cinema, and I saw The Fountain. This was also a work of art, and very satisfying. It's very hard to classify, or even rate, for that matter. I think that great use has been made of repition and continuity in this movie, although you'd never be able to follow it if you haven't your mind set on it. It's just amazing. If any of you have seen it, please do post your thoughts. I'd like to find other's perpectives on this one. Feel free to discuss plot matters freely, as well as your interpretations on whether all the religious subtext was great or a cop-out and what you think about this movie everyone seems to be saying is far superior. (Frankly, it's not available. Because of that, I don't mind it. How all those lucky bastards were able to find it... I'm not sure, but since they're not being friendly, why be the same?) Anyone else interested in the graphic novel to tide them over until the DVD release?

So you've seen it? It's just so amazing. I didn't feel anything about the "religious subtext" though. Religious in what way?

I saw the first day in theaters. Brilliant. It's in my top 20.

I actually just went to see it because there didn't seem to be anything better in cinemas yesterday. It was like finding a diamond in a pile of horse shit. I was so chuffed when I started watching it, it's hard to describe.

Yup, I just saw it. Well, here are some of the religious themes presented in the movie.

Damn! I frigging hate over-analyzing a film I can't watch again and again, to gather my thoughts. When it comes out on DVD I'll rent it and talk to you again.

I really didn't dig this one. It is ambitious but I fould it more like a lot ado about nothing.

Well... You're probably right, but isn't beauty enough, sometimes? I found it SO beautiful.

Agreed. It looks beautiful. Maybe I need another visit. I like religious subtext as much as the next guy (I adore "...Spring, Fall..." by Kim Ki-duk) so I'll try to read into that to keep me awake.
I slept through The Fountain's first half.

DUDE! Why? I just love LOVE love that movie. I definitely think you need another visit. I didn't enjoy this "religious subtext" as much as I just sat back and enjoyed the movie's amazing beauty. Very simple-mindedly, I might add.

Haha! Yeah. Have you seen "Sympathy for Lady Vengeance"? The futuristic pallete and shots reminded me of the poster of "Sympathy"...

I thought I'd post this here: There are rumors going around the Internets that The Fountain could get a Criterion (re?-)release. There is, of course, that awful looking one-discer, but it sounds like Aronofsky wasn't completely satisified with the release (apparently, he wanted to do a commentary track, but Warner Brothers was like "nah") so maybe? Hopefully. Either way, I'm a really big fan of this movie and I will be holding off on it until I see something other than the piss-poor cover. I don't want to encourage things like that.

I just heard it around. I wasn't able to find an official source on it, so I sent out an email to the Criterion Collection earlier today. I'll post a follow-up in both threads (this and the Contact the CC) when I receive a reply. If I receive a reply.
