Paul Haggis Returning for Bond 22 Source: Los Angeles Times May 23, 2007
The Los Angeles Times reports that Paul Haggis, the Oscar-winning writer-director of Crash and co-writer of Casino Royale, will return to work on the script for the "Royale" follow-up, temporarily titled Bond 22.
Haggis will polish the Bond 22 screenplay by regular 007 writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day). His rewrite of Purvis and Wade's Casino Royale script helped to revitalize the aging franchise and hook a new generation of fans to score the franchise's biggest box office - $588 million worldwide.
A director for the 22nd installment, scheduled for a Nov. 7, 2008 release, has not yet been named. Haggis is currently in the editing room finishing up In the Valley of Elah.

Bond May Change Directors[/b][/url] By Josh Tyler: 2007-05-21 10:50:19 Source: Hollywood Saloon It was only this March that Casino Royale director Martin Campbell hinted that he might be back for the sequel, James Bond 22. Now though, it looks like he may repeat what he did the first time he took on the Bond franchise. Kick it off, and then leave it for others to ruin/continue. The guys over at the Latino Review say bald and beautiful Marc Forster may direct the next one instead. Forster has had a string of critical and audience hits over the past few years with Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland, and Stranger than Fiction. In between those hits was a movie called Stay, which one saw, but they should have since it’s every bit as awesome as his other work. That said, it’s not as if he has a lot of experience directing action movies. Forster does have a great flair for visual style though, and that could translate well into the slick world of 007. For now, this is just a wild rumor. I have hard time believing Sony has already given up on Campbell, since he seemed so open to doing the next one just a few weeks ago. LR also says that Tony Scott, Alex Proyas, and Jonathan Mostow might be in contention to helm it so hold back your reactions until something more concrete develops. End of Article.

More Humor in Bond 22? [/b] Source: Daily Express July 13, 2007
Daily Express talked to Daniel Craig who said you can expect more humor in Bond 22.
"They [the producers] just want more gags," he said. "The next one's going to be a lot funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore style gags. They're all great names – but that's the thing, the Bond jokes will be flipped on their heads."
The 39-year-old actor is keen to make Bond his own creation and that will apparently mean showing a softer, less macho side to the character.
"Bond is supposedly the most male moment [in film] but to me he's never been macho. That Bond is something that Sean Connery created in Dr No," he said.
"I don't know Sean but I wouldn't want to meet him in a dark alley – he was a big strong guy and he had a big male presence about him.
"Everybody was in an uproar when he was going to be James Bond. He got flak because he was basically an Edinburgh bricklayer. And everyone who read the books thought how can he possibly do it? But he created a style that was unique and kind of sexy."
Not that Daniel wants to imitate Connery or any other preceding Bond, adding: "There's no point in trying to compete with every Bond that came before. You manage to make it your own."

Sony Eyeing Summer 2010 for James Bond 23? [/b] Source: Variety July 13, 2007
In an article on the scheduling of summer tentpoles for the next three years, Variety speculates that Sony Pictures will try to grab a date for the 23rd James Bond film even before production starts on the 22nd later this year:
While director Marc Forster is just now working with writers on the next Bond film for 2008, there's a 2010 date for the one after that.
That 2010 Bond pic exemplifies the latest trend. Many studios, with dates lined up for '09 and the year after that, have set marketing and merchandising plans in motion and have started talks with visual effects houses. In many cases, the only thing they lack are a director, stars, script or even a story outline.
The article also talks about the scheduling of Sony's Green Hornet for the summer of '09 and a possible Spider-Man 4 for the following summer.
