WIDE RELEASES
Mr. Brooks (Bruce A. Evans)
IMDb Description: A detective (Moore) tracks a potential serial killer (Costner), an otherwise normal man with a devious alter ego (Hurt).
My Opinion: This got mediocre reviews and doesn't look like anything special, not to mention Demi Moore and Costner aren't exactly two people I like very much. Skip.
Knocked Up (Judd Apatow )
IMDB Description: A guy (Rogen) hooks up a one-night stand with a beauty (Heigl) who's way out of his league. An unplanned pregnancy leads first to a tough decision, then to a series of unexpected events.
My Opinion: I don't like 40-Year-Old Virgin, I didn't really think it was smartly written or anything, and was just a stupid SNL type idea. I do love, love, love "Freaks and Geeks", though, so I won't give up on Apatow. I know some people have seen it, do you think I would like it?
Rise: Blood Hunter (Sebastian Gutierrez)
IMDB Description: After she wakes up in a morgue and discovers she's now one of the undead, reporter Sadie Blake (Liu) hunts for the people responsible for her death and rebirth.
My Opinion: A Crow rip-off, but with Lui in it. It just sounds like crap to me, with a bunch of cameo's in it to get some people to see it. I don't know why this would even come out.
Gracie (Davis Guggenheim)
IMDB Description: Set in the late '70s, a New Jersey girl fights to play on the boys' varsity soccer team.
My Opinion: Oh my God, this sounds like complete crap. How many times has this film been made? Christ.
LIMITED RELEASES
Day Watch [LIMITED] (Timur Bekmambetov)
IMDb Description: In present-day Moscow, a hero (Khabensky) who has been inducted into a centuries-old battle between the forces of Light and Dark seeks out a legendary object that can rewrite history -- literally.
My Opinion: I wouldn't even probably no about this if slapshot didn't review the first film a long time ago. I probably would check out the first one just to see what it was like, but until then, I will definitely not be checking out the sequel.
Crazy Love [LA/NY] (Dan Klores, Fisher Stevens)
IMDB Description: A documentary on Burt and Linda Pugach's improbable relationship - a love story that begins with an affair, descends into jealousy, rage and revenge, and turns into a contemporary marriage.
My Thoughts: IMDB has a cool plot for the film: "Boy meets girl; girl finds out boy is married; girl gets engaged to another boy; original boy blinds girl by having acid thrown on her face; boy goes to jail for 14 years in a very public trial; boy gets out of jail; boy winds up marrying girl; boy and girl are still presently married, some 28 years later." That almost sounds cool enough to check out, if I hear something about the film being good, or it is ever on TV, I would probably see that. I like hearing about crazy shit like that.
Pierrepoint [Limited] (Adrian Shergold)
IMDB Description: Albert Pierrepoint (Spall), Britain's most prolific hangman, sends hundreds of prisoners to their deaths from 1934 to 1956 -- while moonlighting as a grocery deliveryman and keeping his other life a secret from his wife (Stevenson).
My Thoughts: This could be good, but it doesn't sound amazing. Anyone know anything about this?
