youtube.com/watch?v=3NNxPcgn_DkThis preview was by far the best thing about seeing Transformers yesterday. I literally couldn't stop thinking about it. Watch it and let me know what ya think. It is produced by JJ Abrams.

They showed a trailer for a Godard movie before Transformers? Seems a bit unlikely to me...

For some reason, I had heard this was directed by J.J. Abrahms?

for a second I thought this thread title was "Cloverleaf", the unmade third part of the J.J. Gittes trilogy (after Chinatown and The Two Jakes). so now i'm not interested

youtube.com/watch?v=JgG7HfSPjJM"'Cloverfield' is the code name of an upcoming science fiction film produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Matt Reeves, and written by Drew Goddard. First publicized in advance screenings of Transformers, the secret project is slated for a January 18, 2008 release. Paramount has been reported to be carrying out a viral marketing campaign to promote the film. Due to Transformers showing high tracking numbers before its release, Paramount decided to release a teaser for 'Cloverfield' before the robot film to build hype. The teaser footage is shot with a hand-held camera to emulate a home-movie style. The teaser did not reveal the name of the film, but it showed a release date of January 18, 2008 for the film. It is not known if the film will carry the same style. The teaser was leaked onto YouTube by people who recorded it with camcorders, but Paramount invoked its copyright claim to have the links removed. Paramount eventually made the teaser trailer available to the public at Apple.com. Following the teaser's release, USA Today reported the hype among moviegoers regarding the lack of title in its screening and the background of the film itself. Paramount was also reported to have published puzzle websites such as EthanHaasWasRight.com in a viral marketing campaign to promote the film. Based on the sites, the film was speculated to be about Cthulhu, due to the puzzles possessing Lovecraftian themes. Other reported speculation included a Voltron film adaptation, a new Godzilla film or a Lost TV spin-off. A Paramount spokesperson said that the studio was unfamiliar with the URL of the Ethan Haas Was Right website. An e-mail sent from producer JJ Abrams to Ain't It Cool News claimed that the Ethan Haas websites had no connection to the project whatsoever. The Star Ledger also reported the 'seemingly official' website www.1-18-08.com to have pixilated snapshots of people possibly from the film. Paramount sources have refrained from any direct comment with the media about the film. J.J. Abrams sent a letter to Ain't It Cool News which declares that www.1-18-08.com is one of the official sites, implying there are more yet to be found. It also states that this movie has nothing to do with any of the Ethan Haas sites." I am so enthralled by the existence of this movie. The marketing campaign is genius and the movie itself looks to be great.

YouTube Axes Trailers for 'Cloverfield'[/b] source: imdb
YouTube has complied with a request from Paramount to remove copies of a trailer for the forthcoming Cloverfield. The trailer for the J.J. Abrams-produced movie made its first appearance last week with the debut of Transformers in movie theaters. The following day copies of the trailer, apparently shot with a camcorder, began appearing on YouTube, but they were soon replaced by a notice saying "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Paramount Pictures Corp." Paramount is a unit of Viacom, Inc., which has filed a $1-billion copyright-infringement lawsuit against YouTube. Writing on the TechDirt site, one blogger commented that the studio was obviously trying to generate buzz with the trailer. "Why is it that the studios wanna ruin their buzz?" he asked. Another blogger replied, "It makes perfect sense -- when you let lawyers run your entertainment company. Perhaps we should just be thankful that Paramount hasn't tried to have the people who filmed the trailer arrested."

UPDATE: J.J. Abrams' 1-18-08 is Monstrous[/b] Source: unfictional July 24, 2007 UPDATE: We've been alerted that Paramount Pictures bought the domain name TheMonstrousMovie.com (there's nothing there yet) on June 8. Will it be part of the promo campaign? Is it the title? We'll have to wait and see. The original story follows... A user at unfiction posted the following interesting bit about J.J. I just wanted to let you know about something I saw at a warehouse sale called Frank & Son's here in Southern California. Basically they sell collectible stuff like cards, comics, toys, etc. It is like a mini convention hall every wed and saturday.
Anyway, I was at a large booth where they sell movie posters. One of the posters there had a snapshot of the statue of liberty overlooking the city of new york. The statue was missing it's head and at the top in large white letters it said "Monstrous". The lower right corner had in smaller white letters, 1-18-08.
Fake? I dunno but that is what I saw. I also snapped some cell phone pics and if possible i'll try to upload them.Abrams' secret movie 1-18-08: Here's the photo he took, which is very low-quality with a bit clearer version below it. Although many will think the title of the movie is "Monstrous," we think the text is more for a teaser poster campaign describing the monster in the film. end of article. man, those cell phone pictures are god-awful. it sounds fake to me, what do you think? Behind-the-Scenes Footage From 1-18-08 [/b] Source: ShockTillYouDrop.com July 23, 2007 ShockTillYouDrop.com has posted behind-the-scenes footage of the filming for J.J. Abrams' 1-18-08 in Los Angeles. You can check it out here! The film is directed by Matt Reeves and written by Drew Goddard. Michael Stahl-David, Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel and Lizzy Kaplan star. end of article.

Greg Grunberg to Appear in 1-18-08 Source: TV Guide July 25, 2007
Former "Alias" and current "Heroes" star Greg Grunberg tells TV Guide that he'll be appearing in J.J. Abrams' secret movie 1-18-08.
One movie that Abrams is casting Grunberg in is the buzzerific disaster flick known only by its myriad working titles (i.e., Cloverfield, 1-18-08, Slusho). "It'll probably be something where no one will be able to tell it's me," he said. "As you know, J.J. calls me his good-luck charm, so he's got to put me in there somewhere. I actually went to the set the other night, and it was really exciting and cool. The budget is not astronomical. But they're doing incredible things."
The film is directed by Matt Reeves and written by Drew Goddard. Michael Stahl-David, Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel and Lizzy Kaplan star.

Quote from J.J. Abrams at Comic-Con 2007... "I've wanted a monster movie for so long." "We need a monster movie. Our own monster movie." No real title today. "You think we called it monstrous? No." Poster unveiled sans "Monstrous" tag. Source: CHUD.com End of Article. comic con video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc99ppTHgUw
