Which films have the most tense, nailbiting scenes?
What about:
The second half of La Salaire de la Peur The ladies planting the bombs in Battle of Algiers The bit in Silence of the Lambs where Jodie Foster visits Buffalo Bill's house Kyle Mchlachlan hiding in the the wardrobe in Blue Velvet
oops! new underpants please!

"Hey Blondie? You know what you are? You're a SONOVAB....waaoowaaoowow...bam.bam...bam". Yes this is a great tense ending. You win £5.

Ok so I have one to out do you all, well probably not but this may come good, depends what I think of in the next 10 seconds or so..... Some scene out of haute tension maybe. Like when he is looking for the girl Ooh or the bit in duel where the truck reappears. I can't think of anything better right now

The scene in Fanny and Alexander when Alexander is lying to his step father and with the thunder going. It's just perfect and the step fathers performances is amazing.

Almost all of Haute Tension, particualrly the bedroom, rest stop bathroom and greenhouse scenes.
The end of Se7en, when you see it for the first time and you wonder whether Mills will kill John Doe or not.
One of the best though is the blood test scene in The Thing, that scene is fucking classic.
All of United 93 was tense, even though we all knew what was going to happen.

I like War of the Worlds. Just a fun movie. And, yes the scene where the aliens come out was somewhat tense.

It was a good movie. Fun to watch. But, I was expecting a little more from Spielberg. The book is still better to me.
Another tense scene is the arrest scene in Le Samourai. Where he is standing in front of the cops.

Of course the book is better. None of the adaptations of it (outside of Orson Welles' radio drama) come anywhere close to it.
