I gave Stalker a rent one time. It was good, about a 9.5 on my scale. It really sparked my interest for more Tarkovsky. But, I dont really want to buy his stuff without seeing it first.

Yeah because you haven't brought it up before. Your an idiot. If I had seen Stalker I would still be shitting my pants. It is suppose to be one of his best. And you only gave it 9.5. Ugh. I will have andruini finish you off. lol

Why? I liked the movie. You have not even seen it. So how would you know what it is like. It wasn't one of my favorites. Just because I docked it .5 points doesnt mean I dont think it was a great movie.

I've seen Andrei Rublev. Great photography, acting, cinematography and editing. The premise was kind of uninteresting for me (since i'm not religious) way too much talk about religion (which i despise) i was hoping he'd become an atheist at the end. hehe still a 4/5 movie. I will see Zerkalo and Stalker (If i can find it).

I regard Tarkovsky as one the best of the handful filmmakers that are on the top! I have seen his first shortfilm, Andrei Rublyov, Mirror and Stalker and I think all are nevertheless top-notch films, but I must see those films more times to fully appreciate them, especially Mirror - it's a difficult experiance but visually keeps you in trance from beginning to end.
Another thing, Andrei Rublyov is one of the best films I've ever seen, and one of my top5 most favorite films.
And I like to say that I am complete opposite of Meshuggeth when it comes to religion. For me religion in film (Christianity especially, since I'm a Christian being) is utterly interesting and always make me concentrate abit more when taken up as subject in a film or between charaters portrayed in film.

OMYGOD I've just bought a perfect 2nd hand copy of Stalker for £1.99 from EBay (that's around $3.60 to my American mates). It's the R2 Artificial Eye version. It came 2 days ago and I watched it last night. I still can't believe it. I posted a brief review on the rate the last movie you watched thread. ;D

I was just blown away by Andrei Rublev. The film is so beautifully shot and acted. It's a film I feel must be seen more than once to fully be understood and appreciated. Tarkovsky is already the man! I MUST see more of his films, I want to try to watch Solaris next.

Didn't you give Stalker a 9/10 before? And, to me, Andrei Rublev is a perfectly made film, but isn't something I would watch much, or again anytime soon.
My Rankings: 1. Solaris - 10/10 2. Andrei Rublev - 9/10 3. The Killers - 7/10 or 7.5/10 (need to re-watch this film sometime)

I had to rewatch Stalker three times to fully appreciate it and once I did, it became a total masterpiece for me. And wasn't Rublev in your top 20 at one point?

yeah, remember that one day someone said something about my list being snobby or "fake" and that is when i realized it wasn't actually one of my favorite films, that it was just a technical masterpiece, but didn't truly move me or do anything for me, like the other films on my list do. that is when i knocked it off. i still don't know where i would rank it on my list, though.
