Atanarjuat, the first film made entirely in the inuit language. Amazing film, beautifully filmed and an impressive story.

Has anyone seen Seul Contre Tous (I Stand Alone)? Gaspar Noe's film before he did Irreversible. Fantastic directing & editing, great sound and a brilliant central performance by Phillipe Nahon. Highly recommended although hard to get in UK.

I have to reccomend Cure (Kyua), a brilliant mindf**k of a film about a series of killings sweeping Tokyo that share one thing in common: each of the victims a large X carved on their throat. A deliberately paced, engrossing thriller with a brilliant conclusion. Pretty hard to find though.

Nightmare (Bank, Dylan 2005 IMDB) A great film that I was able to see at the Eerie Horror Fest. It is not a straight up horror film it is more like a silence of the lambs type film. It is about a guy and a girl who have sex and film it, they wake up and look at the film and it shows them murdering people. They dont know what to do and the guy forgets he has a project for film school and he is forced to turn in the tape as fiction. What happens after that is stunning. The movie is always one step ahead of you and it may take days to put the whole thing together. If you get the chance to see the film, you must! Official Site!!!!! (Watch the trailer for the film!) |
