I didn't like it either, but worst ever? No. True, but it's definitely one of the most overrated, up there with Braveheart. Most films that are considered exceptionally bad (or are featured on the IMDb worst films) just went right past me. You Got Served, Crossroads, Glitter, etc. None of them were so exceptionally bad that I ranted about it to my friends, simply because everyone KNEW they were bad. Crash, on the other hand, won best picture at the Oscars and recieved rave reviews from many respected critics, despite its complete lack of subtlety and its frankly moronic narrative. That annoyed me. cineaste25, the majority of your list doesn't really surprise me, you have no idea how many people have told me that 2001 is "the most boring film ever." I also completely agree with all Jackie Chan movies, damn, I hate it when critics rant on about how Police Story revolutionised action movies forever. I really disliked it, Michael Bay could have directed it. As much as I respect your opinion, I strongly disagree with a few of your choices. Adaptation's script was a masterpiece, the multiple layer of reality were very clever. Anchorman is one of the most charming films I've ever seen, regardless of its silliness. Also, Brazil was such an entertaining film, what was it that you didn't like about it? You also seem to hate Anime, which is a little odd. Who doesn't like destructo-robots and tentacle rape?

Brazil- Pretentious, poorly acted, sad attempt at satire.
2001- Unnecessarily slow, obviously 60s, poorly acted, pointless.
Life Aquatic- Painful, had to shut off in the first few minutes. Not a Wes anderson fan at all.
If I gave the impression that I hate anime, it is quite the contrary. I love Ghibli, but I'm not a big Otomo fan, the Akira, Steamboy guy.
Adaptation.- Pretentious, self-referential, unrealistic, poorly acted by Cage and even Streep fails me here. I love Kaufman, Jonze, Cooper, Streep and Cage, but they all fial miserably here.

Adaptation is the most surprising there. I know of many others who hate 2001 and Brazil, but everyone I know who has seen Adaptation loves it.

Whatever. I hate em and nobody will change that. Deal with it. I was shocked too at how much i hated Adaptation. because I love everyone in it, and I love Being john Malkovich and Eternal Sunshien of the Spotless Mind.
2001 is dated, let's put it that way, that' what I meant by obviously 60s. you can tell it was the 60's idea of the future, not a timeless one.

I also disagree. I don't see how if you can tell what decade it is that it isn't good. I mean look at Easy Rider! You can tell that's 60's and does that make it bad? No. But oh well I guess.

Surely I'm hallucinating? Adaptation? 2001?Worst movies? I think Adaptation is Kaufman's & Jonzes' best work; & Cage & Chris Cooper are brilliant. As for 2001, I'm metaphorically speechless! IMO worst films in recent years are: Lozzzzzt in Tranzzzzzlation Crash (2005) Cabin Fever In the Cut Shark TaleYes, I do realise that there are some utterly appalling films that I haven't mentioned, but I rarely see films that I know are gonna be crappy, so I cant comment on those. The above represent films that have been rated as "worth seeing", and should have been soooo much better.

In the strictest terms, of course it's not the worst film ever. Technically, it is proficient & it all makes sense narratively. The editing, direction, performances etc are all adequately up to the standard of what might be called a "well made film". But come on! At the end of the day it's all about making connections with movies & experiencing some kind of response to what's on the screen (empathy, anger, hate, sadness, hilarity...whatever!). The only response I felt watching Lozzt in Tranzzlation was indolence & boredom. */*****

I agree with you on LiT but I actually liked Cabin Fever for the simple fact that it was a fun film and didn't take itself to seriously. I think Roth made the right choice there, and since so much new horror is utter crap I thought it was much better. More fresh and original to me. But I know there are alot who don't like it.

I liked Cabin Fever also. I mean i can understand if you didnt like it. Its definitly not for everyone. But, just like Criterion said, it didnt take itself serious at all. Plus, I love hilbilly horror, which was why I loved the Devils Rejects.

I have no problem with The Devil's Rejects, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Just can't find any redeeming qualities in Cabin Fever. Sorry. The best horror movie i've seen in recent years is A Tale of Two Sisters. Cerebral and Terrifying.

Alien vs. Predator especially when the predator and Sanaa Lathan practically hold each other's hands at the end
oh, how could I forget Against the Ropes, the boxing movie with Meg Ryan ... notice how no one complains of her absence to movies the last 5 years? because no one cares ... haha
and the new Longest Yard ... not funny AT ALL
