What are some dumb things that your friends or others have said about film? Tell us some funny stories about you working at a video store and someone wanted a fullscreen Lawrence of Arabia or tell about a friend dragging you to go see Transporter 2. Any dumb things are welcome in this thread!

No I didn't. Joel bought the whole Ring set! The Ring used to be one of his favorites and he dragged me to see that and I was complaining the whole way. And it took him a couple days to even relize how bad it was. I think he still likes the first ring though!

One of my friends told me that Boondock Saints was the best movie he had ever seen. I promptly smacked him in the face.

One friend flat-out refured to watch Sin City because it was not, and I quote, "In True movie color".

After I first saw saw Glengarry Glen Ross I recommended it to my mother. The poor dear's memory is not what it used to be and she promptly went into the local video store and told the guy she was looking for a film called Macsomething Macsomething. This was in 1993. The guy is still laughing about it.

I had just rented out 8 movies:
- M - Annie Hall - The Elephant Man - Barry Lyndon - 8 1/2 - La Dolce Vita - Boiling Point - Ran
She dismissed them all as (and I quote) "gay." When I insisted that most of them were widely considered classics, she looked towards the TV (I was watching 8 1/2 at the time) and she screeched "BLACK AND WHITE?!" and stormed out of the room. Some people are so uninformed when it comes to film...

from an amazon.com review of "Seven Samurai":
"Boring kung-fu movie, August 26, 2001 Reviewer: Addu "addu" (Florida) - See all my reviews Save your money and time by not watching this badly made kung-fu movie. The guys in this movie do not know martial arts at all. The story goes as follows: Some shaolin monk gets hired by some korean guys to protect their village. He recruits some other kung-fu fighters and goes to the village and kills all bandits. End of story. The fight scenes are so bad that it is laughable. I have seen movies by bruce lee and Jet Lee and they are vastly superior. Even the recent movie "the Matrix" has great hong kong type fight scenes, but this hong kong movie does not have any."
and then i looked on his profile and he said:
"See Spot Run DVD ~ David Arquette 2 of 6 people found the following review helpful: Movie masterpiece!, August 30, 2001 This is a brilliant movie! The unique camera angles and lovely story are great. Kudos to the director!"
this guy should be shot as he is an idiot. people are so stupid.

^ I'm sure that last guy was a gimmick. No one's -that- stupid. Anyway, a few months ago I told my brother to watch Oldboy but he refused because it "doesn't have any martial arts in it". Since when are martial arts in asian films mandatory.

Oldboy does have a one-on-forty fight scene, common to all Asian films. Even movies by Zhang Yimou. I told a friend of mine that I had just seen Tron and he said: "you are the biggest movie buff i've ever seen!!" I would expect that reply from something like Au Hasard Balthazar, which I can type from memory , but not from movie that's manditory to get into the computer field.

I had to go with two of my friend to see the silent film "Show People". Afterwards my friend said he didn't like it because it didn't have any sound.
