Hey, I have two movies that I haven't been able to identify. And you know, it'd be excellent if someone could name even one. --- The first movie is a short that I watched on the Sundance channel a year or two ago. The movie is shot in stark black-and-white, made by basically woodcut. It's non-English. I'd like to say that it's Swedish, but I can't say for 100%. The plot was pretty much like a guy goes to a city that's practically abandoned, and he meets up with an innkeeper and a woman. I forget the specifics, but I think that's about what happened. edit: Wals voor de Storm, discovered on accident thanks in part to nonfiction.--- The second movie is a full-length English movie. That I also saw on the Sundance channel. Yay. The movie essentially takes place in an apartment. It has this really realistic dialogue that I thought was pretty good. The plot concerns this older guy who was going to go out on a date with this girl (she's like half his age), but then they decided to go over to her house. The movie just basically goes through conflict after conflict they have, from a novel the guy's writing to food to other things. edit: What Happened Was... discovered by lordofdance. --- There. Hopefully either description was reasonable enough to where someone could be like "oh yeah..." And, feel free to use this thread to find your own movies that you enjoyed but can't name. Go, now! ;D

The second one sounds very familiar, it seems like I know it but I can not be sure. Do you know around the time the film was made?

I know, that's why having watched them but not knowing the title is just... so... hard. The woodcut one was made maybe in the 90s or the 00s. The apartment one was definitely made in the 90s. Well, it could have been made earlier, but it definitely felt like one of those 90s movies. Not 100% on either, but you know, that at least narrows it down a little. And I tried looking around the Sundance channel's website, but it was kind of hard. edit: The apartment one is in color. edit edit: And, the apartment one is in English.

Fucking yes. The first one was Wals voor de Storm. nonfiction found a review by a pretentious guy, and I kind of followed the author's list of reviews before stumbling on! Wals voor de Storm!

Rock on. The second one was What Happened Was...! Two in one day! lordofdance, you just won yourself several Internets. Do with them as you please. Anyone else here can use this thread if they've seen parts of movies but were unable to identify them. I know most of us here don't stumble across movies, but you know, this is an option just in case.

I just happened to remember seeing some of this film because the killer from Manhunter was in it. I would probably never have thought of this film ever again if you didn't remind me of it.

Watching rambo yesterday made me think of a film I saw once and enjoyed. It isn't a very good film, just an action type movie. Here is the plot as I kind of remember it.
2 opposing army type taskforces go into the jungle or someplace to have a practice pain ball type tournament although pretty soon one team are using real bullets and are actually killing the other team.
I'd love to know what this is, it may have the following actors in it: Tom Berenger
Really, I haven't a lcue but I'd like to know what it was....it was fun!

The only movies that I know of that have Tom Berenger killing people in the woods are the Sniper series movies, which all suck and have no plot similarities to the film you are describing.

Well it was only a guess that Tom Berenger was in it. Gah this is really annoying, it isn't that I want the film I just want to know what it is, its just bugging me now that I dont.

When some of the guys get shot there are some slo motion type shots. As a whole I remember the film being pretty violent and possibly the bad guy team set up traps too...

There was this movie I watched on the Sundance channel about a year or so ago. It was about an amateur filmmaker, I think he was German or something, and he decided to make a documentary about a friend of his he collaborated on that just disappeared off the face of the earth one day. It goes through this detective story of the guy trying to find out what happened to his friend, including who he hung out with shortly before he disappeared (he was hanging out with dangerous and shady people), and it took him all over the place. Oh, oops. Not even before I finish writing this post, I did a quick search of the Sundance channel and found the movie. I should have looked it up...: Missing Allen is the name. Not sure if I'd recommend it to a broad audience, but it was certainly a noteworthy documentary to me.

A friend of mine would like help trying to find this movie. My friend wrote: "We were discussing some movies that had suicide scenes (we were discussing the realism or lack-thereof in the movies.) Anyway, I mentioned this movie where a guy, I think he was paralyzed or something, looks out his bedroom to see his wife f*cking one or two guys on their couch, she picked the guys up at a bar or something. The dude sees this, goes into his bedroom and I think he blows his brains out. I thought it was Forrest Gump, but I don't think Lt. Dan dies in that movie. I am clueles, anybody know a movie with that scene in it? The guy might not even commit suicide, that's how much I can remember about the movie." Not Rear Window, and I don't think he went to see Disturbia. Boogie Nights didn't sound like the right movie, and he thinks it's less than ten years old. Help is appreciated.
