Discuss all remakes here; which are your favorite and which are the worst?

And we must remember some remakes before just simply being like "I HATE REMAKES THEY SUCK!!!!!!" I'll make a short list with the popular remake in bold: 12 Angry Men ( 1957) (1997) Scarface (1932), ( 1983) Seven Samurai ( 1954), Magnificent Seven ( 1960) Wizard of Oz (1925), ( 1939) Yojimbo ( 1961), A Fistful of Dollars ( 1964) I tried to include more, but yes, most of the list I was looking at featured poor remakes, or movies I know are probably good on both sides, but I haven't watched either version so I can't say for sure. Just remember: not all remakes are bad. edit: How could I have forgot the Seven Samurai?

I really liked the Dawn of the Dead remake, even though most dont agree with me on it. I though it was a very fun re-imagining of the classic film.

I liked the remake of Dawn of the Dead too, but for a different reason than the original. I much prefer the original because of its statement on the wrongs of consumerism, but I like the remake too as just a fun, entertaining gore-fest.
and don't forget about Ben-Hur, or that awful remake of Yojimbo/Fistful of Dollars, Last Man Standing, with Bruce Willis and Christopher Walken.

O yea, that is exactly why I like the Dawn remake as well. It was just a fun bit of gory fun that didnt take itself too seriously or try to imitate the greatness of the original.

I hated the film, I mean I can at least watch the film since there were some cool ideas, like the talking between roofs and things but there were also MANY bad things. For one, running zombies suck; I can't stand running zombies. Two, the ending was god-awful. And three, it was too new horror movie looking, with tons of crappy scenes thrown in. And am I the only one who wanted to shoot myself in the head during that whole zombie baby scene. UGH! Terrible.

You are just mad that they remade one of your most holy films by one of your most holy directors. Sit down again and watch it sometime, forget that its a remake, and you will find yourself having a blast watching some good pulpy horror, albeit maybe a bit mindless, but when has that been a problem with a horror film.

I did that the first time, and plus Day is my zombie film, not Dawn. Just because I am entertained by a film to a certain extent doesn't mean I liked the movie. I just didn't care for the movie for the reasons I listed, not as a film, not even as a zombie movie! It did everything a zombie movie shouldn't do.
