List some films that you have really been looking forward to seeing, but haven't for some reason. And tell what has kept you from seeing it, or why you want to see it so bad.

I'm not dying to see these, but here are a few I wouldn't think twice of watching if I had the chance to see: El Apóstol, believed to be the first animated feature film, is believed to be lost. I've seen a little bit of Winter Days on YouTube, which looks amazing, especially because they adapted the renga style of Japanese waka to a movie format. And they brought animators from Russia, Japan, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, the UK and the Netherlands, working with anything from cut-out to puppetry to CGI to Flash to paint-on-glass to Pinscreen animation. You can't beat that, except too bad the only release has been in Japan and I think also one in Korea as well. A couple less obscure ones that I really want to see would include the Last King of Scotland, General Idi Amin Dada and Mind Game. I'll avoid getting a wishlist together, and stop it there.

Pan's Labyrinth Fanny och Alexander Eraserhead Brown Bunny I know there are tons and tons and tons and millions more, but it'd be a waste of time putting them all here. I thought of the first few.

I want to see a couple of those, and I have Eraserhead in the bay, but here's one I just found that really interests me: One Last Dance, 2005 - And not that Patrick Swayze one either. I thought it was great when Harvey Keitel spoke Mandarin in the trailer. Oh, and thanks to Tim, I really want to watch everything Kon Satoshi has to offer, especially Paprika. And of course, I need to spread these out, but watching everything from Studio Ghibli has been another goal.

Pan's Labyrinth = incredible Eraserhead = shit...but that's just me. Eraserhead may be the ultimate love-it-or-hate-it movie. Brown Bunny = the worst film ever shown at Cannes according to Roger Ebert, so i'll skip it Fanny and Alexander = don't know, but i REALLY wanna see it.

Brown Bunny = the worst film ever shown at Cannes according to Roger Ebert, so i'll skip it Fanny and Alexander = don't know, but i REALLY wanna see it. That was before Brown Bunny got a re-edit, and Ebert saw the new cut and gave it ***/****, and said that it shows how important editing is to a film. I don't know what you would think about the film, but I just wanted to say that it isn't the worst ever shown there anymore. Fanny and Alexander is possibly the greatest THING ever, second probably only to a few things like women and The Simpsons. I beg everyone on this forum to watch the TV Version of the film, such a magical experience.

I saw it before and don't quite know what to think, I was wondering what you may have thought of his little segment?

I beg everyone on this forum to watch the TV Version of the film, such a magical experience. (Fanny och Alexander) Agreed. I long for Kurosawas' Ikiru. Think the story suits me very well, and I know Kurosawa is skillfull, so why haven't I got around it see it yet? Well, it may be the price. I haven't found it particulary cheap, and I haven't enough money for the moment to just blind-by (or buy anthyng expensive at all) something like that. Taste of Cherry is another one that I am dying to see. I haven't been aware of this film as long as I have with Ikiru, but the price also has something to say here... It's too bad, though, that money should decide what I watch and not (although it makes perfect sense at the same time), so this is definitively going to be seen soon. Fuck money.

Criterions are always just a little too expensive for me to want to list buy, especially with Ikiru, which is a pretty good movie but whose transfer (as C-Man and I have talked about over in its CC movie thread) is not 100%, which is to say, I'm not paying $35~ for a movie that's only about 90% cleaned up.
That said, I don't like blind buying at high prices. Renting Criterions in any area probably isn't an option, but who knows. Maybe get into a group of friends who all like movies, and if there are five people, get each person to buy one expensive DVD, and trade amongst yourselves after you watch them all if you weren't quite 100% content with the movie you got or something.
edit: Replied to C-Man's question on the Animation thread; thought it would be more relevant there.
Back to the main topic, though, I'm wondering if anyone has any specific movies they would LOVE to see, if the movie were available. Like my first two; one is lost to the sands of time, and the other doesn't have a R1 DVD and isn't popular on ze torrrents, so it's been very hard to come across. How about it?

Two films about death, always fun. But really, those are two of the best films ever made. I think you should, when you get enough money, blind buy Ikiru if you can find it cheap. It is Kurosawa so you already know you are in for a treat. The other film though, I don't know if you should blind buy, it is not a guaranteed liking like Ikiru is. But I think you should dig it, but it depends how much money you have/want to spend/how much it costs.

No order (not counting any bad horror)
Seven Samurai - There is no reason I shouldn't have seen this yet. It has been sitting at my house for like 2 months. I need to watch it soon, but because of it's length I can't find anytime to sit and watch it. Thanks to school. Fanny and Alexander - I would make time to watch this if Criterionmaster would let me barrow it. Hopefully me and him will just watch it together sometime?. Godfather - I really need to see this. I can't believe I havn't One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - Looks fantastic, and also looks like something I will like a lot. Raiders of the Lost Ark - Looks great, and should be Taxi Driver - looks mind-blowing Raging Bull - Also looks mind-blowing Paths of Glory - It's Kubrick and looks great. I have it at my house so I will watch it soon. The Bridge on the River Kwai - looks amazing and I have heard great things Notorious - Hitchcock, also looks mind blowing and Dan said I will love it. Donnie Darko - I don't know if I will like this or not, I just want to see it. Ben-Hur - looks great The Battle of Algiers - looks amazing 8½ - looks fantastic. And I hear this is one of the best. Forbidden Planet - This look really good. Do the Right Thing - Looks like something I will really like. I have be wanting to see this for a while, if I ever found this at borders I would buy it. Werckmeister harmóniák - looks like one of the greatest films ever. Sátántangó - looks unbelievable. Can't wait for it to come out on DVD The Brown Bunny - I'll probably buy this soon Mouchette - Have this at my house, it will probably be one of the next things I watch Day for Night - looks mindblowing Sid and Nancy - Looks like something I will really like Lord of the Flies - don't know anything about this, just a blind buy. Scenes From a Marriage - looks fantastic No Direction Home - About Bob Dylan, one of my favorite musical artists ever Woodstock - I think I will find this very interesting. I love films about things like this! Dersu Uzala - looks like it will be a masterpiece
These are the films I want to see the most right now. I am probably forgetting some. I am going to add and remove movies from this list so I can look at it to know what I should buy or watch.
