Pick 5 movies that best represent your life philosophy.
WEEK END I think Week End is a pretty good representation of what goes on inside my head half the time.
LOVE AND DEATH This is probably the other half.
THE RAPTURE Sums up my religious outlook, I think.
FIGHT CLUB Something of a representation of my political outlook/what I aspire to be like.
SEVEN BEAUTIES A good representation of my views on human nature.
What does this make me? An anarchistic nihilistic existentialist absurdist?

The United States of Leland (Matthew Ryan Hoge; 2003) has quite a few topics and theories I agree with, but I still need to think this one over.

too lazy to think of 5 for certain, but one that sticks out, not necessarily for a life philosophy but for how easily i can relate to it is The Graduate. Ben Braddock's situation, lost in the chaos of the real world, is practically my own...minus the affair with the neighbor's wife.

Uhh... Eureka Kings of the Road Yi Yi Wings of Desire A Taste of Cherry I don't know. ;D How about pick 5 movies that best represent the way you see the world? Or best represent you as a person? For example, WEEK END and LOVE AND DEATH represent the kind of things that I think about most often: Chaos, religion, death, sex, absurdity, human nature, culture, ect. Some of my thoughts are humorous, some are dark and disturbing. Sometimes I have a great deal of anxiety. I can relate to those movies because that's the way my mind works.

I can really only give you four right now. American BeautyI remember one or two people around here hated this movie, but let's just keep this to why it would partially represent my life's philosophy. Mainly, I can relate to how seemingly useless our lives have become. We just do things for systematic reasons, we don't actually fully express ourselves, and I thought that was captured well in this movie. Enter the DragonThis movie really started me out in my admiration for Bruce Lee as a person, a philosopher and a martial artist. I'm not much of any of these , but I feel that his constant self re-evaluation was a very constructive thing. He went from being very good at what he did to the best, and even when he was the best, he continued to work and progress to better himself and better those around him. - I don't really have a distinct role model myself, but Bruce Lee is the kind of person that would make a great role model. 7th StreetI can't really explain it right now, but I guess it would apply under human nature. Fight Club"By the end of the first month, I didn't miss TV." I interpret that as after a period of time, when you're away from things that don't matter, you won't be concerned with them anymore. They don't really follow the specific religion, politics, human nature, how I live my life kind of philosophies, but I'm alright with that for the moment.

I can think of one, maybe two at the moment, but I will just say one: Dazed and Confused, because it touches on many things I feel. Pink's whole thing with football, even though I hate football, I still like his refusal to sign his life to someone else. Going against the authorities, having your own thoughts, etc. I probably connect with the guys in the car with the red head (forgot the exact character names) the most, because they are like outsiders, and want to do their own things. And the movie is one of the easiest for me to watch, and enjoy too, because of the fact that it has so much of the things I think about. It represents many of the things I believe and feel, most evidently probably is my hatred for school, and my looking to the future or whatever. How much better college is going to be, which I think is a line straight out of the film. Most people probably think it is stupid to connect with this film, but really, it touches upon so many things I feel in life and I can just so easily connect with it. Does anyone understand what I am saying? Probably not. It is hard for me to really explain why I love the film so much, but like I said, it just has so much in it that I think about. Probably the perfect film for a kid who thinks like me, at this specific age, others would probably just look at this as a stoner film or whatever.

Any specific reasons for those choices?

Any specific reasons for those choices? Yeah, but when I wrote that, I was pretty tired and didnt want to write much more. Clerks-not really a life philosophy, but alot of the times bad things an happen in groups when im not even supposed to be there. And I guess that I agree with the thoery that you should live you life to the fullest like Dante should have. Pi- This is a tough one. I think that everything in nature is related and sometimes I can feel that everybody is trying to bug me about something at one time. Day of the Animals- This movie is about animals attacking people because the humans are depleating the Ozone. I think that people have messed up the earth too much and that we should be more conservative with oil/electricity. The Lathe of Heaven- Philisophically,I believe that everyone is the master of their own destiny. The Crippled Masters- This movie is about two guys each either missing both his arms or legs. Even though these guys are disabled, they still kick ass. I believe that no matter the obstacle, a person with a strong will can persevere.

Gummo, because at heart all I am is southern white trash looking to kill some cats and sniff some adhesive.
Richie Rich, cause I thought about having a McDonalds in my house years before that shit came out, so its like their stealing MY philosophy and making money with elaborate fight scenes on a spoof of Mt. Rushmore.
Woman in the Dunes, cause I constantly feel trapped like the protagonist.
Blue Velvet, life is no more than one huge mystery
Hoop Dreams, cause I always thought it would be cool to be an underprivledged urban child growing up in the early 90's, looked like fun with the Hammer pants and the Public Enemy and all that good shit.

The anime series Kino's Journey, probably. I don't care if it's not a movie.

This is more like "characters in movies that represent what kind of person I am and/or what kind of life I live," and less "characters in movies that represent what I aspire to"...except obviously Il Vangelo. Jesus in Il Vangelo Secondo Matteo (I try, anyway) Aragorn in Lord of the Rings (I try, anyway ) Li Mu Bai in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Dr. Isak Borg in Wild Strawberries Antonius Block in The Seventh Seal Dwight McCarthy in Sin City Bill in Kill Bill Cyrano de Bergerac in Cyrano de Bergerac The common traits here that describe me are: reserved, independent, quiet, contemplative, courteous, enthusiastic about learning, hesitant to hold positions of authority, overanalyzing situations, deadly with bladed weapons, and awkward around women.
