What are some of your favorite scenes? Scenes that touch you, make you laugh, cry, piss your pants, barf, clap, etc. Any ones that make you remember why you watch film in the first place. Please include pictures of the scene if you want, and if major spoilers, mark as so. This could be a fun thread.

Nights of Cabiria - the ending is just too powerful, almost made my cry the first time Rififi - the heist scene is probably the best ever of its kind, and the most creative use of an umbrella ever Fallen Angels - the scene where the mute plays the videorecording of his father is really moving, one that everyone can relate to.

Here are a few... ContemptI don't really need to explain why I like Bardot's arty nude scenes. "...and God created woman"This is a funny scene where Bardot let's all of her pets go expecting to be taken away by her love interest. When the bus he's riding just passes her by, she tries to retrieve the liberated animals. Bardot does a saucy/cheesy dance number. Nights of CabiriaFrom this opening scene I was instantly infatuated with Masina and the character Cabiria. Muriel's WeddingMuriel and her friend do their version of ABBA's song Waterloo. You'd probably have to be familiar with ABBA to really appreciate it, but it's a funny scene. CQI like all the Dragonfly scenes in CQ, but her moon mission is the best. Love & DeathThe Russian Army puts on a play to warn troops about sexually transmitted diseases before they go on leave. Love & Death is always funny, but this scene makes me laugh the hardest. Gate of FleshI love the use of color in this movie. HaxanThere are plenty of striking images in Haxan, but this one always scares the crap out of me.

You'll find one of my favorite scenes in Herzogs' The Enigma of Kaspar Hauser (you'll probably find several, but here's the most obvious, I guess). Just take a look (don't mind the italian dubbing - it's the first 30 seconds that's important here, anyway. Although the dialogue is some of the best I've ever heard, it's in Italian): www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjfGvugxGUgAnother one of my favorite scenes in films, is in Herzogs' other masterpiece: Stroszek. There are many scenes I could've mentioned here, but I particulary love the scene in which Stroszek observe the little baby at the hospital. What a strong, poignant scene! Also, the scene in which you find this images: . Please watch this film if you haven't. It's definitively one of the films' I would have recommended to people, if I only had, like, five recommendations to give... Apocalypse now also has some of the greatest scenes ever, I think. The scene, pretty early in the film, where cap. Willart gets the briefing, is one of my favorites. Youtube sure is handy: www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zkcNB0f5KIOne of my other favorite scenes in films, you'll find in the last "scene" in Bleu. If you've seen it, I think you know what I mean... You know, when the music kicks in, and.... MY GOD. How GREAT.

Bagman also had a creative use for an umbrella.

I will post some of my favorites tonight, probably. I want to try and look up some YouTube clips and such to post. Also, how about that scene in Elephant, kayla, when he is playing "Fur Elise" on the piano? That whole part, since the song is so haunting, and the whole ending, are probably my two favorite parts in the film.

A good recent favourite is in American Splendor. The scene where Giamattis character goes into the bakery and meets an old school friend, I find that so hilarious. Mainly because he looks so drunk and his face is so erratic and his eyes. Ah its a scene totally unaware of its hilarity I think.

Yes, that's a good scene, but I loved Raymond (fuck knows where I found that name, but it's in my head, and next-to-nobody can prove me wrong) walking down the corridor, as if he's going to save the day. The ending kicked ass, you're right on the money.

Ok, I know I have a lot, so I'm just going to go straight through and type as they come to me...
Vertigo So much of this movie...I guess I'll say the kiss in front of the green window in the Hotel Empire, the very end when he's standing at the edge of the bell tower, and actually, I really love the opening credits.
Wild Strawberries I love the whole thing, but the dream sequence in which he takes an exam and then sees his wife's affair is the most poignant for me...especially when she talks about how he'll automatically forgive her because he's so cold-hearted.
Battleship Potemkin The Odessa Steps sequence, particularly the parts with the two mothers. The most chilling moment for me is still the perfectly symmetrical shot of the first, older mother, from the back, carrying the child up towards the line of soldiers as the Shostakovich music swells tragically.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 The first 15 and final 45 minutes of KB2, which I consider the best love story since Shakespeare's "Antony and Cleopatra" in the 17th century. By the time Morricone's theme from Navajo Joe starts playing at the end, when Bill stands up, I'm always watery-eyed and shuddering.
Once Upon a Time in the West My favorite opening credits sequence; also love the sweeping shots preparing for the final showdown, and the flashback to the hanging is such an emotional punch to the gut.
The Seventh Seal The opening, all the chess playing scenes, the confessional scene, the witch burning.
Rules of the Game The whole fiasco at the party--who can't love Jean Renoir running around in a bear suit? Culminating in the perfect exchange "Put an end to this farce!" "Which one, sir?"
Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut) The opening burial scene is possibly the most gorgeously colored I've ever seen...also love anything with Edward Norton.
Gangs of New York I love the whole march of the Dead Rabbits sequence--truly chilling music--followed by the street battle.
Pulp Fiction Sheesh, where do I begin, but the final sequence is probably the best.
Titus The opening, the tree branches scene, the crossroads scene, the banquet and the finale.
12 Angry Men When Lee J. Cobb's got the switchblade...great moment.
Gandhi Any number of march sequences.
Psycho Right after the shower scene...when he's mopping it up.
Seven Samurai It's all absolutely perfect, but I especially love Mifune's farmer speech, and when he finds the child...and when Kyuzo goes into the forest alone.
Ikiru Of course, the scene on the swing...but I also like when he meets the novelist for the first time, and the scene with the windup rabbit and the birthday in the background, and when all the bureaucrats are rolling around drunk and sobbing, and....shoot, forget it, I can't list them all.
The Merchant of Venice The trial scene...Pacino is perfect.
Well, I'm out of time, actually...geez, there are lots I missed...including Lord of the Rings and Citizen Kane...but you get the gist.

the scene in down by law with the song "it's raining" playing, and roberto dancing with that girl. it is so funny, yet beautiful, i don't really know how to describe it. anyone else love that scene? (p.s. that song also makes the scene great)
