Ok, I love the first three, but I`m not a fan of the "new" ones, including Revenge of the Siths. A shame, really. Lucas should never had touched the material in the first place.  |

No. Episode 4, 5, and 6 should have been the only Star Wars. I like episode 3 but episode 1 and 2 were SO bad that episode 3 should have just not been made along with episode 1 and 2. (IMO)

No, I do not care for Jar Jar. But i loved Podracing. Those are some pathetic ratings. Star Wars is not that bad.

So much Star Wars hate out there.... tsk tsk It's true that Lucas never should've directed the new trilogy and he certainly shouldn't have been allowed within 50 feet of the scripts, but thems the breaks. Despite how he mangled a few things, I maintain that the new trilogy are still good films and eminently watchable. Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace (8/10) Of the new trilogy films, this is the one that gets the most undeserved criticism. There's a lot of important dialogue and setup in the movie, a lot of INTERESTING dialogue even, but most people are too busy complaining about Jar Jar and the little kid who played Anakin to actually enjoy the back story that's being presented. To me Jar Jar and young Anakin aren't even something to complain about. My only gripe about Episode 1 is the extremely WOODEN acting of Natalie Portman. Furthermore, Qui Gon Jin is one of my favorite characters from the entire Star Wars run, despite the fact that he only ends up being in the first movie. He's a very important character philosophically and his decisions end up heavily effecting the entire storyline of Star Wars. Episode 2 - Attack Of The Clones (6/10) Probably my least favorite of the series. First half of the movie is all setup dialogue. Very awkward romance scenes between Anakin and Padme. Highlight is when Anakin wipes out the Tusken raiders to try and save his mother. Finished up with some cool, but predictable battles scenes and lightsaber duels. Hey, at least we got to see Jango Fett in action and Yoda go insane. Episode 3 - Revenge Of The Sith (7/10) The highs are really high and the lows are really low in this one. Lows include the hideous "You're so beautiful because I love you" romance scene or whatever the hell it was Anakin said to Padme that made me want to throw up. Darth Vaders "frankenstein" awakening (wtf?) and the subsequent "NOOOOOOO" yell which really couldve been handled better. Highs include the political commentary in the dialogue (the one thing I really applaud Lucas for, even if it was a bit ham fisted). Genocide of the Jedis. Anakins slaughter of the Jedi Temple and Trade Federation. Awesome ending duels between Palpatine/Yoda and Anakin/Obi-Wan. Episode 4 - A New Hope (9/10) What can you say that hasn't already been said? Classic. Episode 5 - Empire Strikes Back (10/10) Darkest of the series, best drama and character building, real sense of vulnerability at the end. Episode 6 - Return Of The Jedi (10/10) To me, this film has always been every bit as good as Empire Strikes Back. The most common complaint of this film is the Ewoks, which is a really lame complaint in my opinion. It's not like they're even a major part of the story. Besides, if you didn't shed a tear when that one Ewok got blasted by the ATAT, and then his little friend comes over and shakes him to see if hes still alive, you have no soul. Raid on Jabbas palace, Yodas last words and death scene, three-way finale battle between space, forest planet, and the duel between Luke and Darth Vader... and then to polish it, Vader/Anakin death scene. Best death scene ever? Quite possibly. Still chokes me the hell up. Awesome film! |

I agree ALMOST completely. I'd give A New Hope a 10. I'd give Episode III an 8, as for actual quality. As a SW nerd, It's a 10. Phantom Menace... 8 seems right to me. Maybe 7.
