Nice try. He has made more classics than almost anyone you can name. If he wasn't good like you seem to think than every person, who is much more knowledgable when it comes to film than you, would not rank them high on lists of great directors.

Anyone who thinks Jarmusch is overrated is a fool. For me, the most overrated is Lucas.

Well I can see if he is ranked over those directors you could think that. I usually only refer to this list. As long as you don't think he "sucks." It is my favorite list, and is a combination of a bunch of great lists: www.theyshootpictures.com/gf1000_top100directors.htm

Spielberg has made some ok films like Schindlers list and saving private Ryan. Though he has also made some good family films like ET. I dont think he's a great master genius that he is often mad eout to be. His films are quite entertaining, little more.

BTW that is a very interesting top 100 director list. I hadn't even heard of some of them or their films. People like Chris Marker, Vincente Minnelli and G.W Pabst.

Terry Gilliam is overrated. He has made some good films, but their usually not great, as everyone else says.

Beed, how in God's name is Lucas overrated? Most people think he is a shitty director. If anything, he is underrated. Look at his first three films (THX 1138, American Grafitti, and Star Wars) and you will see why he is so good.

Well, thats just it. He has made some good films, but people seem to regard him as one of the greatest directors ever. He isn't. He may have come up with the idea for one of the greatest trilogies ever. But he did not direct two of its best installments. What I'm trying to say is that he is a better producer than a director.

PETER JACKSON! The guy is a good technician, but far from a master of cinema. As far as I'm concerned I think he never should have the directed TLOTR triology, I think it's very overrated, that's my opinion... ...And the youngster: BRYAN SINGER I personally think The Usual Suspects is one of the most overrated films I've seen, but let's give him a couple of decades and see what he'll manage! Jim Jarmusch is far from overrated , he's underrated!!!

I think Jarmusch is overrated by captainofbeef. He has him at number 4 on his list! Overall he doesn't get talked about too much so he doesn't bother me that much.

I forgot to say Tarantino. While I quite like his films its ridiculous that some people seem to think he's the only director in the world. When he's basically a director who is good at using what is good from other films and blending them together into his own thing. I'd say he's a good writer though again, not the best like some think.

I personally love Tarantino. He's made some great films. However, I wouldn't put him in my top 10 favorite directors like some do. He's not even the best of his generation. (Even though Pulp Fiction is my favorite movie of that generation) Both Fincher and Rodriguez are more talented directors than him. He may be a better writer, but some have him beat in the directing department.

I can say that I've seen 7 Hitchcock films: Psycho, Suspicion, North By Northwest, Rope, The Birds, Strangers On A Train, Vertigo. There is hardly any difference between the 7 films. What is Hitchcock's messege during his films?: Dont trust anybody? That is rediculous. Not to mention, he is considered king for his long shots, I aint buying that, when Tarko takes that crown. The Birds is stupid, plain stupid, boring, nothing ever happens. Psycho is ok, but it has some long, tedious shots as well. Rope and North By Northwest are entertaining, but not great films, because they dont do anything for me. The rest of the films that I mentioned suck, but not as bad as The Birds. The Birds is, if I can say so, for The Birds.
But still, Hitchcock is no Ridley Scott or anything...

..The Birds is, if I can say so, for The Birds... That is a bold comment. . The Birds is a highly effective horror film with this incredibly suitable pace. It builds up nearly perfectly in my opinion, and some of the shots in the film are just fantastic. I thing it`s three years or something since I saw it, so a rewatch is waiting for me.

Well I have seen over 40 Hitchcock films and after what you said about the films you have seen I can recommend Rebecca, not like other Hitchcock films but still so beautiful, with great performances, so there is a chance you will like it. Also check out Rear Window just because that is my favorite.
