ELIZABETHTOWN (2005) VANILLA SKY (2001) ALMOST FAMOUS/UNTITLED (2000) JERRY MAGUIRE (1996) SINGLES (1992) SAY ANYTHING... (1989) Love this guy. I even like Vanilla Sky and Elizabethtown, the two most people don't like. Love his writing style, too.

He is a much better writer than director. His first four films are great. But he seems to have lost some of the magic with the last two.

Well, he hit an insanely high peak with Almost Famous/Untitled, so it's kind of hard to follow that up without some disappointment.

Yeah, I think it's pretty underrated.

I hated it. I don't care what you think. There is no way to change my opinion.

Troy is terrible. One of the worst movies I've ever gone to see at the theater.

I enjoyed it. Once again, I could care less what you think. While it is def. not one of my favorite movies (regardless of what my myspace says), it was fun as hell.

I don't like this director, but the guy has some skills that's for sure. I rewatched Almost Famous about two months ago and it was'nt that great as I rememebered it to be the first time I saw it ages ago. I found the character of Kate Hudson dreadful.
and Vanilla Sky is one of the worst films I've ever seen! Singles seems interesting, but only 'cos Chris Cornell is in it.

Yea, my mom felt the same way about Hudson's character. I loved Vanilla Sky, what didn't you like about it?

Elizabethtown (Cameron Crowe; 2005) 8/10”There's a big difference between a failure and a fiasco.”Despite the ridiculous amount of flaws I got to say I really enjoyed myself. Cameron Crowe’s style made me look past most of the flaws and just enjoy it, although at times it feels like he is trying to be Cameron Crowe instead of just being him. The film follows a guy whose father has died, he takes a flight to go to Elizabethtown for the funeral, on his flight he meets a flight attendant (Kirsten Dunst), they share a “moment” and end up talking to each other all night on the phone. Clichéd plot no doubt, but it is told in a fun and quirky way that I loved. Both actors make it very believable, except for the occasional stiff acting from Orlando Bloom. Like I have said before I have a thing for Kirsten and this film was no exception. She was really hot. As I said, there are flaws, like the movie feeling, at times, like a Cameron Crowe rip-off instead of a real film by him. And the scene with the mom in the film (Susan Sarandon) is god-awful and almost unbearable. She tries to be funny but comes off as very annoying, and I don’t necessarily even think the dialogue was what was bad, it was the acting mainly. If the scene would have been done with someone else I think it could have been quite funny. Also the whole “map of music” thing was way over-the-top, although I love it, like ptahole said to me before, it could have been a short film on its own, which it should have been in the first place. I did get a boner over the soundtrack though, just a mind-blowing amount of [great] songs. Like I said, the film may be flawed up the butt hole, but it is still a fun ass film. I recommend it; don’t go in expecting a masterpiece though.
