Very nice. So far i've only watched Early Spring, but i loved it and would imagine it would have done just fine as a CC release itself. I got too much and cant watch from just one set, but i hope to watch Tokyo Twilight as soon as possible. I got my set from Borders with a 30% off coupon and $5 off additional from my rewards card, so all in all it was a great deal.

boyhoodbravery told me that i would love that ozu set, so i definitely want to get it sometime. do you think it would be a good start for ozu?
also, nice buys dude! how much did all that cost?! definitely make sure to tell me how that woman in the dunes set is, and how if... the movie is, and if i would like it.

I've only seen Early Spring from that set and it's good but not as amazing as Late Spring, Early Summer, or Tokyo Story. Those three films are 3 of the best films I've ever seen. I would start with Early Summer, though you can just as easily start with the other two.

Perfect suggestions from wkw, the first Ozu I watched was Tokyo Story and it just blew me up down and away. I haven't seen one Ozu thats not a great film, even his 'Good Morning' is a hoot. I'd suggest the box if you can get it, otherwise start netflixing cause the dudes a fucking G. Also if.... is a perfect film, from the acting to camera work to flow, everything falls together perfectly from start to finish. Good commentary too with decent extras, although I prolly wont be going back to those for a while. Dunes is like under $60 from criteriondvd.com, and the set is omg fucking great. 10/10 for criterion, unbelievable transfers for three very unique Japanese films. Woman in the Dunes is top 3 material for me, so there was no way I wasn't gonna cop that shit the second it dropped. I got it at borders again with a 30% coupon they sent me for filling out a survey.

i was so pissed when they released a new version of taxi driver, but i just read the dvdbeaver review of it, and now i really look forward to buying it. i wish they would have gotten the criterion commentary on there, though. I've only seen Early Spring from that set and it's good but not as amazing as Late Spring, Early Summer, or Tokyo Story. Those three films are 3 of the best films I've ever seen. I would start with Early Summer, though you can just as easily start with the other two. thanks, sir. i will probably just check out one of those, i have heard great things about all of his films. i will probably go with what you said, and get early summer first, then. Perfect suggestions from wkw, the first Ozu I watched was Tokyo Story and it just blew me up down and away. I haven't seen one Ozu thats not a great film, even his 'Good Morning' is a hoot. I got it at borders again with a 30% coupon they sent me for filling out a survey. thanks for the thoughts, i definitely look forward to if.... but i would kill for that boxset, it sounds stunning. i agree that woman in the dunes is one of the best films ever made, and the other two look great.

i was so pissed when they released a new version of taxi driverYou're pissed about that? Put yourself in my shoes with Blade Runner, 2001, Clockwork Orange, and Full Metal Jacket all getting re-releases in the coming months, all of which I own the crappy copies of already.

I've wanted to see Go Kill and Come Back, and its sequel or something, Go Kill Everyone And Come Back Alone, since I first heard about them. Not too big into spagwests, but still, you CANNOT argue with titles like those. They must be seen, because they are great. ;D Haven't heard of any of the Kung Fu ones or any of the others. NICE on the Hidden Fortress too. I need to see that...
