hell, the only aspect of Forrest Gump that's underrated is the special effects. Great stuff.

just how Hanks is so seamlessly integrated into old, real-life news and television footage.

Right now, I feel this urge to put Broken Flowers on a possible top 20. I don't think I will do it, but I sure as hell feel like it for the moment.
That's all.

hell, the only aspect of Forrest Gump that's underrated is the special effects. Great stuff. I can see that, at least you admit those are brilliant, and they hardly get mentioned. I was just thinking, if I would have seen it when it first came out I [probably] would have hated it, because it beat one of my favorite films, was over-hyped, etc., but since I grew up with it, and I think it is fun as fuck, I love it. It is funny how the time you watch a film can affect a film so much, or how you are feeling while watching. I think Broken Flowers is a masterpiece, as I said other places, but I don’t know if it is worthy of being on your list, it is up to you of course. This may be a case where because you just watched it, and loved it so much, you want to admittedly put it on your list, when really it isn’t one of your most favorites.

Yeah. My comment was more or less an expression of how much I liked it. It's in my top 50, though, so... still loving it. ;D
Have you seen this, Kayla? I know you will loooove it.

Amazing pictures! Good job, there. I should really get hold of Le Notti Di Cabiria, Shadow of a Doubt, Il Confomista and Mouchette. Is it very similar to Au Hasard Balthazar? I'm not overly impressed with it, but I do appreciate many of the aspects of the film, both teqnically and thematically. Not to mention La Double Vie De Véronique. Thanks, great I captured most of those pictures from my screenshooting my own DVDs. Allthough it's been a very long time since I saw Au Hasard Balthazar. Mouchette is similar in structure and visual style but different in content of course. I think Mouchette is more sad than Balthazar and the ending is so poetic, more powerful and gripping than in Batlhazar, Pickpocket and L'argent who I think all have strong endings. Mouchette is also a very short film, just 1 hour and 18 minutes but it's compact... I recommend it and by all means Pickpocket as well! That film is very easy to appreciate I think. Stunning! From the ones you mentioned I think you'll favor Il Conformista the most - complex, suspenseful, poetic, disturbing and unconventional. One helluva film! ;D Today I'm actually going to search on schools in Samordnaopptak. I've been reading a lot about bachelor grad in media and in filmvitenskap. I've found out that I'll prioritize NTNU at the top. Perhaps we'll end up meeting each other in Trondheim this autummn. Only the future will tell. How's it going for you with the applications and stuff, Endre?

Jesus, Freaks made it on your list!? That is awesome. Unique choice, I always loved the film, there is just something so insane about it, probably the fact it could ever get made. I didn't even realize you liked it that much.

Thanks for your comment, cm. Freaks was awesome; so totally absorbing and fascinating, treating it's characters as colourful individuals rather than hollow stereotypes. There's an unsentimental tenderness in the description of the different characters, resulting in a emotionally engaging film, both heart-breaking and terrifying. I think the theme that is explored in this wonderful, little masterpiece is one of great importance and interest. I miss your long reviews in "rate the last film you saw-thread". Have you too much to do in school, or are you just tired of writing about your film-experiences? Cheers! I have really wanted to see some more films from Todd Browning or whatever his name is. I have heard about some of his other stuff, and one night he had a double-feature on TCM, but I missed it. I always wonder what his other films could be like, and how they compare to Freaks. Actually, yes, school does make it harder for me to make such long reviews and stuff, since when I did that it was like last summer. But I do have some reviews that I need to post, ones for Malcolm X, The Outsiders, Grindhouse, and maybe some others. I will make sure to post them; I had to write them all for school/the newspaper. This summer, which is in like 3 days (for me), I will try and post some thoughts on every film I see, like I used to. I always like reading and commenting everyone else's, but I don't often do it myself anymore, but I will change that. Sorry about not commenting back in a few days, I have been packed these last couple of days for school/concerts/films/film series.

No need to sorry. I was just afraid you didn't see my reply, since there was some activity on the other users' lists... I really wanna check out some more stuff by Browning myself. I understand the "lack of time", I've had quite a lot to do myself lately. But now it's soon vacation, and I can watch a lot of films. Wohoo. It would've been great if you began writing some more about your film-experiences again. Really. I kinda miss the time when you wrote these long mini-reviews and shit (that reminds me: I have to see Naked Island soon! I remember so clearly your mini-review of that one). Cheers. Yeah, I only have two more really short days where I take my finals, then, finally, I am off!! Naked Island!? Maybe your mind isn't as clear as you thought. I haven't seen that film yet, although I would kill someone to do so. You might be thinking of the film Twenty-Four Eyes, which was a classic Asian film that I wrote some stuff about a while back. If that isn't it, maybe you could remember if I used a picture, or what I said or something. (I will check out the list next time I am on, to see what you added/changed.)

I think I'm gonna buy this box-set with El Topo, The Holy Mountain and Fandy Y Lis... I'm already looking forward to a rewatch with El Topo. I think there's a lot of things to dig out from that untraditional western-dish through some rewatches.

Of course. It's one of the greatest films ever made! hell yes, it is stunning. i am really happy it is so high!

I like Dawn of the Dead better, but Day of the Dead is still an excellent choice.
The box set is like nothing else. I saw a shitty transfer of it and literally, the transfer is amazing. Like it was shot yesterday.

Cm: I'm definitively going to check out alot more by Jodorowsky in the near future... I can't get El Topo out of my head. Pure magic. ie: Hehe, I can definitively see why. I don't know, I slightly prefer Day.. It's just something personal (what isn't?). Dawn is one of the greatest films ever made as well, though... When I get some money in my pocket, I will certainly buy that box-set.

Wasn't sure whether I should post this on this forum or the other one, but I just rewatched Day of the Dead and holy shit, it is AWESOME. Just thought I'd let you know that. I also just wrote this in yet another forum, so excuse the re-introduction but I think you might like to read it: Oh, I rewatched Day of the Dead. That has GOT to be one of the best movies ever made. Holy shit, some of the discussion/arguments in that movie are so dramatic yet so real. I could actually feel tension, which outside of Hitchcock, just doesn't happen a lot for me. M1 A1 is also one of my favorite songs by Gorillaz, so I guess that made an instant connection with me hearing the sample in the movie.
