I can't believe, even after seeing so many good films, you still have that cliche predictable crapfest that is Million Dollar Baby. What to you makes that film good? And how is it better than Raging Bull? There are some other odd choices such as Once Upon a Time in Mexico, but there are some good films on here too.

Million Dollar Baby was so shocking for me. I saw it first night, first showing and was totally blown out of my seat by the ending. I saw it before all the hype about the ending and how it totally came out nowhere. The film just picks you so high off the ground, you love Maggie, you want her to win the big fight (unless you are Dan, who didn't like her accent). Then, the shocking turn of the plot comes so fast and takes you so low. Eastwood, Swank, and Freeman deliver excellent performances that carry the film so far. So the film may be a tad cliched, but it wasn't a Rocky for women.

I also have a different definition of a favorite film then you do. These are the films that if I had to choose, I would most want to see these again over and over again. I don't put films that are painful for me to watch but affect me and make me think like you do.

Same thing happened to me with Titanic, but I don't place it so high on my list. And the performances are not very good actually. Swank's accent sounds so forced and fake. And you don't care for her character at all. Clint is good, but Freeman gives the same performance over and over, it's just "eh." Never really cared for him. I did laugh when he had those socks though.

Well even painful films for me I still want to watch more than once, like Dancer in the Dark. But yeah, I tend to like films that impact me in some way, not just entertaining films to watch.

Swank's accent does not sound forced at all. You are the only person I have ever met who thinks so. Freeman's performance here is different from others. Why? Because he does things his other characters in films wouldn't do. I read on another forum that his character in Shawshank would never have punched the guy making fun of the retarded kid who thinks he can box. Sure, he narrates the film, but he is the best film narrator of all time, so that does not really bug me.

I actually don't like his narrations, there are much better ones, such as Ray Liotta or Alec Baldwin. I am sure I can find at least some people who think her accent sucks, I know I can find TONS of people who hate her performance at least.

Oh totally, Ray Liotta narration in Goodfellas smokes just about every other narration ever. I can't remember hearing Alex Baldwin narrate anything though

Royal Tenenbaums, as well as others. He gets paid quite a bit for narration of documentaries.

The Royal Tenenbaums had a little bit too much style. There was substance underneath, yes, but until I realized that myself, I thought the movie only had the flash-bang kind of camera work that might not appeal to everyone.

All three Bunuel's as your least favorite, ugh. I guess you really don't like him, just surprised me that you could find any ones worse.

Alright, I watched half of THX, I have seen that film now. I have also seen Children of Paradise because I watched the first part. You have not seen all of the Decalogue, but yet it's on your list.

You seem to put films into your tops faves to quickly. You only saw El Topo what, a month ago? And already its number 2 or so.


Overall this isn't a bad list. But pulp fiction is very overrated and what the hell. Million dollar baby, even Crash was better and thats saying a lot!

El Topo's effect on me propelled it very high up on my list. I watched it again recently and it held up magnificently on second viewing. Its at number two cause I want it to be there.

Eh, Pulp Fiction and Million Dollar Baby are overrated or bad. Heard it before, I just can't bring myself to care anymore.

It seems like there should be some stuff over a lot of those. Just suggestions: Jaws, A Clockwork Orange, Walkabout(which was used to be in your top 20), STAR WARS, To Kill A Mockingbird, and many others.

Walkabout was never in my top 20. Jaws, Clockwork, and To Kill A Mockingbird are all tens, but not good enough for my top 50. Star Wars is excellent but I just can't put it in my list. My tastes aren't the same as your.

Because Jaws, Clockwork, and To Kill A Mockingbird are tens I thought maybe you just forgot them. I don't recall saying are tastes are the same. I just suggested those films because you give them all tens so possibly you just forgot them.
