::)Nice number 6 the biggest list cliche like ever. Your list is vey special, im impressed and fascinated by it So, then, since The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is "the biggest list cliche like ever", does that mean that your comment about my list being special is an act of sarcasm? Or are you saying that there were plenty of other movies on my list for them to appreciate other than The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, and that the list is special despite having that movie on it?

Oh right. Well regarding your list, I wasn't being sarcastic about it. Its a very varied and interesting list. I was just saying that to many people have TGBU on their lists. I like your list and I hadn't heard of films like CQ and you have some very cool and unusual other choices like support your local sheriff and foxy brown.

When I posted #6 was Blue Velvet. The Good The Bad and The Ugly is nothing special. Ahh, yes. I think I switched it briefly. Blue Velvet is probably the favorite I've had the longest, aside from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I like your list a whole lot. So nice to see Suspiria up there, and Taxi Driver, Bring Me..., Chinatown, Goodfellas and Repulsion on the same list. Great.

I like your list a whole lot. So nice to see Suspiria up there, and Taxi Driver, Bring Me..., Chinatown, Goodfellas and Repulsion on the same list. Great. I've spent a number of years figuring out which movies I truly enjoy, as opposed to the ones I'm supposed to enjoy. I don't like supposedly "great" or "classic" films just because of their status. I have to be genuinely entertained. The list I submitted represents my true tastes fairly accurately.

Showgirls... Really? I mean Showgirls as your only Verhoeven. I LOVE the guy but come on... Robocop, The Fourth Man, Starship Troopers, fuck even Flesh and Blood or Spetters. I'm intrigued by why you picked Showgirls.
Interesting list BTW. Here's my grades for those I've seen 1 Raising Arizona (1987) 4/5 3 Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) 5/5 7 Blue Velvet (1986) [Needs a rewatch for grading] 8 Taxi Driver (1976) 5/5 12 Pulp Fiction (1994) 4/5 17 Goodfellas (1990) 5/5 20 Showgirls (1995) 1/5 21 Commando (1985) 3/5 23 Chinatown (1974) 5/5 26 Three Women (1977) 4/5 29 Vampyres (1974) 3/5 30 Foxy Brown (1974) 3/5 31 Peeping Tom (1960) 5/5 32 Evil Dead II (1987) 3/5 34 Wicker Man, The (1973) 5/5 36 Princess Bride, The (1987) 5/5 38 Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The (1974) 5/5 39 Star Wars (1977) 3/5 40 Repulsion (1965) 3/5 47 Evil Dead, The (1982) 4/5 48 Blazing Saddles (1974) 3/5 56 Big Lebowski, The (1998) 4/5 57 Muriel's Wedding (1994) [Needs a rewatch for grading] 64 Three Musketeers, The (1973) 2/5 65 Death Race 2000 (1975) 1/5 67 Body Double (1984) 3/5 68 Zombie (1979) 5/5 70 ¡Three Amigos! I'm intrigued by why you picked Showgirls. I'd like to give you a deep reason, but it really comes down to: I LIKE NAKED WOMEN + I LIKE CAMPINESS = I LIKE SHOWGIRLS To tell you the truth, I don't really follow a Director Quota. I don't think to myself, "Well, I gotta have a Verhoeven film on the list. Showgirls is not highly regarded, so I better go with one of his more artistic early films, or Robocop." I don't really like his other films that much, at least that I've seen. Maybe after going through his other films, I'll add one of those as well. I like campy films and visually interesting films and films with prostitutes, and occasionally, I even like good movies. I know what I like when I see it.

Fair enough. The reason I HATED Showgirls was that it actually managed to make me bored by the nudity, and I LOVE naked women, don't get me wrong here. Honestly though if you like Showgirls that much you should try some of Verhoeven's proper films. Start with Flesh and Blood. It's got boatloads of violence, masses of gratuitous nudity and decent performances from Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Nice list by the way, there's a lot of exploitation movies I've been meaning to see on it. Oh and given your love of exploitation do also try Thriller: A Cruel Picture. I'm sure you'll thank me.

I own the uncut version of Thriller: A Cruel Picture. I'd give it a 6/10 most likely. Check out the DVDs I own to get a full perspective on my tastes.
I do intend to watch Paul Verhoeven's earlier offerings, though Showgirls is a one-of-a-kind. I don't really consider it an erotic experience, but I do get a warm feeling whenever I watch it. You should definitely check out Blood Freak and Confessions of a Psycho Cat from off my list. They're two of the funniest exploitation films I've seen. All the Russ Meyer films are worthwhile, too.

Now that you're bringing up Verhoeven again, I guess this would be a good time to give an update on my early movies of Verhoeven explorations. Currently my favorite Verhoeven movie is Showgirls, but I have been willing to check out his earlier movies just in case one of those might be better. Turkish Delight is the first one I looked into, and, though it was interesting, it doesn't come close to the greatness of my sweet Showgirls. I will keep trying, though.
I am glad for Paul. He should get the Noble Peace Prize for Showgirls.

holy hell, that list is INSANE. so much crazy sounding stuff on there that i must see, i love that you have commando so high, that may be one of the funniest films i have seen in my whole life. when arnold is holding the guy over the cliff thing, and goes "that is my bad arm". holy hell, comedy gold.
i am going to use your list as a list of things i need to see, for the most part.

that review was fucking hilarious. Cooke (The Great Bill Duke): "Scared, motherfucker? Well, you should be. Cause this Green Beret's going to kick you ass."Matrix (Arnold): "I eat Green Berets for breakfast. And right now (punch) I'm (kick) very (slap) hungry." Cooke gets tossed through a wall. You should really watch Road House if you like crappy 80's Action. It's pretty hilarious.
Pervert! is a homage to Russ Meyer-style movies. It's not great, but it's stupid funny and loaded with busty women.
L'Avventura and La Notte (The Night) are quite good, and part of Michelangelo Antonini's trilogy. L'Eclisse is the other movie, though I did't like it as much. They seem like your style.
Big Bad Mama has William Shatner in it and is pretty fun.
Definitely get Ms. 45! I'd like to see your opinion on whether it's as good as I Spit On Your Grave or not.

I thought you should know that Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky is incredible. Have you seen it? If so, why isn't it on your list? Oh, and I still want to see CQ, along with about half the stuff on your list. ;D ;D I've seen these, 100% through, no cheating: 6. Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The (1967) 8. Taxi Driver (1976) 10. Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia (1974) 16. Cool Hand Luke (1967) 17. Pulp Fiction (1994) 18. Goodfellas (1990) 19. CQ (2001) 31. 400 Blows, The (1959) 49. Häxan (1922) 78. Seventh Seal, The (1958) 86. Un chien andalou (1929) 93. Star Wars (1977) 100. Harakiri (1962) 107. Dead Man (1995) 113. M (1931) 115. Big Lebowski, The (1998) 123. Clockwork Orange, A (1971) 124. Matrix, The (1999) 125. Terminator, The (1984) 128. Tetsuo (1988) 129. Dawn of the Dead (1978) 158. Thing, The (1982) 166. Walkabout (1971) 182. Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) 190. Ghost World (2001) 191. Enter the Dragon (1973) 197. Grindhouse (2007) 203. Topo, El (1970) 214. Bicycle Thief, The (1948) 217. For a Few Dollars More (1967) 30/220 - 13% So we'll skip the foreplay: this may be the best list on this forum. Screw all your classics-only lists. Those are boring. I don't care the order that they've ranked Ebert's Favorite Movies in! I'm definitely going to try to watch some of the movies on your list soon. Get that score up.

I'd like to see your opinion on whether it's as good as I Spit On Your Grave or not. thanks for the recommendations! I will rent that 80’s action film sometime when some people are over, those are always fun to make fun at with a bunch of people. I actually just watched beyond the valley of the dolls, so i am really in the mood for something like russ meyer (since i just saw two of his recently), so pervert might be a cool choice, if i can get a hold of it from somewhere. i really need to see some more antoinoini (sp?) and those sounds really good, but i am kinda in the mood for american trash or 70's american films at the moment, but i will still definitely check those out. ooh, ms. 45, in what way is that like i spit on your grave? i haven't heard them compared. but isn't it on something weird? i am definitely going to rent that soon. So we'll skip the foreplay: this may be the best list on this forum. Screw all your classics-only lists. Those are boring. I don't care the order that they've ranked Ebert's Favorite Movies in! I'm definitely going to try to watch some of the movies on your list soon. Get that score up. i agree that this is probably the best on the forum, and it is definitely one of the most original lists i have seen. i just love it soo much, not saying i don't like a list of classics, though, but this is just awesome.

Haven't seen Riki-Oh, but now I guess I'll have to. I'm not sure what you'll think of CQ. I like it because of its low-key retro charm, but its not something everyone will appreciate, I figure. This list has been created based on my theory that "If I like it, it must be good." I block out everything else (critics, popular opinion, the concept of good/bad, ect.) the best that I can so it's just me and the DVD player/movie screen. If what I see comes together in an acceptable way according to my psychological makeup, then the movie gets its rightful spot on the list. Free your mind, and the list will follow. There are a lot you haven't seen. I still think you should see Boxer's Omen and Black Magic. Crazy movies. Tarkan vs. the Vikings (or Tarkan Viking kani) is seriously funny. And you haven't seen Crumb? That is one great documentary about the underground artist Robert Crumb. I kind of relate to him because he likes large bottomed women. Ms. 45 is another rape/revenge movie from about the same time. I always compare the two in my mind, though Ms. 45 is slicker and I Spit On Your Grave is more graphic. I forget what company released it, but I've been waiting for a new version to come out before I buy it. Oh, and Pervert! is easily available as far as I know. I bought it off of DVD Planet. Big Bad Mama is one you should check out, not just because of Shatner, but because that girl gang leader from Switchblade Sisters is in it. And it's 70's trash.

Oh yeah, Ms. 45 does look interesting. And I'll just go ahead and state it. Best list on the forum, period. No competition. I also really respect how you created your list. I definitely have got some catching up to do. ;D ;D Here's what you'll be getting into with Riki-Oh. I have seen a bit of CQ and I liked what I saw, so mainly it's just a "damn it, I should finish that up someday..." And, I've seen a bit of Crumb but it just really didn't impress me all that much. I wasn't really too interested in what Crumb had to offer at the time anyways, so that may have been a main factor. I do have Boxer's Omen around, and saw a little bit of it. Hasn't quite hit the weird brilliance yet, but I'll try to finish it when I have time. The plan is to have a text file with your list. Two lists actually. First the list minus the movies I've seen, and the second is the complete list. The goal of this is to try to get through them all, very eventually. I really only do this with a couple people's lists that I really respect, and so far it's turned out well. Tastes are different, but when you find a few lists that sync up, the times are good.

The plan is to have a text file with your list. Two lists actually. First the list minus the movies I've seen, and the second is the complete list.
