I really love your list, I recently saw All About Lily Chou-Chou and loved it. I have been listening to her music now a lot, it's really haunting to me. I didn't even know one of her songs was in Kill Bill until recently.
Nice choice on Harakiri, one of my favorite samurai films even though it is different from most I have seen. The climax and the whole build up to it is some of the best filmmaking I have ever seen.
Pierrot le fou really blew me away at first, but has worn off me, still a 9/10, but not the best Godard I have seen. Love the end of the film though.
Yi yi, just fucking perfect. And Spirit of the Beehive was just shipped by Netflix, can't wait to watch it! Also, based on your recommendation, I am fucking dying to see Eureka. Is there a region one release of the film? Is there any release?

Excellent list. Good that there is no crap like star wars on here. You have a far better and varied range from some people around here. Hana Bi over Sonatine, interesting. I love Hana Bi but it just doesn't have the same oomph to me as Sonatine does. Though I need a rewatch and did remember being amazed by it first time around.

Also, based on your recommendation, I am fucking dying to see Eureka. Is there a region one release of the film? Is there any release? Apparently there is no Region 1 release so you're stuck with ordering from Ebay or whatever. It's totally worth it, though. Thanks! Thanks. I think me liking Hana-bi more than Sonatine may have something to do with the order in which I watched them. Hana-bi was my introduction to Takeshi Kitano—who is now my favourite director—so it's possible my decision may have been influenced by sentimental value.

In a world where seemingly every movie list is the same, yours does win points for variety. Of course, some of your choices are regulars on those Greatest Movies of All Time lists, but there's nothing automatically wrong with that.
Eraserhead, Harakiri and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly are great movies. Tetsuo is an ordeal, but I like it.
I own The Spirit of the Beehive, but I haven't checked it out yet. The rest of your movies I either need to revisit or watch for the first time.

Yeah, I am wondering the same thing. That picture has gotten me interested in the film.

Concerning Chappaqua, since nonfiction hasn't responded, there is apparently a DVD and VHS release of it, but Amazon doesn't sell it. There's a copy available at the library in VHS format; maybe it's ultra super rare or something, dunno.

In reply to your questions about Chappaqua (it's number 21 rather than 18 now, though)... I got lucky and caught it on IFC during the summer. Can't help you with finding a DVD, sorry.

Oh, I will have to look for it on there now. Nice call on Taste of Cherry and Apocalypse Now, two excellent films. And it's cool to see some Pasolini on here now, one that I haven't seen too. I now must check it out. Have you seen any other Pasolini?

For the sole reason that it beat out Eureka at Cannes in 2000. It's pretty good, though.

Still lacks Noiseman Sound Insect, in particular.

I think it's a cool list, reflecting your taste pretty well. Many I haven't seen, but I will definitively check out Wings of Desire and Eureka (I hope I can find it cheap enough, though) pretty soon.
