1 - Aguirre der Zorn Gottes - Herzog 2 - Sonatine - Kitano 3 - Last Days - Van Sant 4 - Happiness - Solondz 5 - Bullet In The Head - Woo 6 - The Maltese Falcon - Huston 7 - Jules Et Jim - Truffaut 8 - Cries and Whispers - Bergman 9 - Detour - Ulmer 10 - Elephant - Van Sant 11 - The Brown Bunny - Gallo 12 - True Romance - Scott 13 - Pickup On South Street - Fuller 14 - Night and Fog - Resnais 15 - Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie 16 - Ikiru - Kurosawa 17 - Taegukgi - Kang 18 - Christmas in August - Hur 19 - The Isle - Ki-Duk 20 - DOA: Tobosha - Miike
This is new and a bit thrown together. I think the order is rather accurate though...
So 20 films listed. I don't know about the films outside of the top 10, position wise. They seem good choices in my mind though currently.

Nice list.
Top 3: 1. Brick 2. The Third Man 3. Badlands
Bottom 3 (from what I've seen): 1. Sonatine 2. Citizen Kane (great but overrated) 3. American Beauty (still like it)

Nice.
Top 3:
- Ikiru - Maltese Falcon - Citizen Kane
Bottom 3:
- Aguirre (not at all a bad movie, but i just like the others a lot more) - American Beauty (ditto) - Third Man (pretty much put this here by default, since it's the last one there that i've seen...it's a masterpiece, nonetheless).

BOTTOM 3 1. Citizen Kane (sleep time) ... and the rest are fantastic

Streetfighter comes off of my list and I have added the amount of times I've seen each film.

Nice to see the positivity to "the number of times...". I really like your list, and that it is so varied. Don't like your new addition that much, though, but I wouldn't go deeper into that. I've seen Bullet in the Head one time myself, but found it to be somewhat weak. I enjoyed it, but far from as much as I did with A Better Tomorrow, The Killer and Hard Boiled. What is it with Bullet in the Head that you like so much?

I love Double Indemnity as well. The best film noir? Perhaps

I liked bullet int he head a lot because of how epic it was. It is also the best film about friendship I've ever seen. Though I am starting to feel that I'm being blinded by a first viewins. i need to re watch it. Thinking about it, taegukgi was probably the more touching war type film i've seen. Hard Boiled won't make my list because, even though I like it lots, its just an action flick. Albeit a very good one with superb choreography and general coolness. I've seen that about 4 times. Then there is the killer. Again, a marvelous and very touching film in the end, a film i've seen about 6 times. I cant yet decide. I feel that only one of the 3 films can make it into the top 20, it wont be hard boiled so that leaves the killer and bullet in the head. I'll decide soon. Double indemnity, a wonderful film. Its just so stunningly perforamed, its so cold in its denoument and the performances are fine. Is it better then sunset boulevard though? I need to rewatch that as first time I enjoyed it but found it a bit sluggish in parts.

Aguirre - 10/10 Sonatine - 3 The Maltese Falcon - 8 Happiness - 0 The Third Man - 9 Badlands - 8 Jules et Jim - 7 The Phantom of Liberty - 4 American Beauty - 2 Cries and whispers - 10 Ikiru - 10 Double Indemnity - 9 Bob Le Flambeur - 8 Master of the Flying Guillotine - 10 Brick - 7 Bullet in the Head - 8 Westworld - 9 Citizen Kane - 10
This has to be the first list that I've seen every movie on, ever. Pretty good list, excluding Happiness, which was fucking terrible. Bad acting (ex. Hoffman), bad direction, awful writing. Bold and good don't have to come hand in hand.

I admit, Solondz is very boring visually, but the performances and dialogue in Happiness are so great. Awesome movie.

Wow! I dont know how you can be so harsh about happiness. I think its a wonderfully written film, great, variation of characters. Dull visuals sure but the contents of the film is what matters.

wow, night and fog on your favorite movies list?! nice. i don't know if i could call it a "favorite" just because it is so graphic. your list is amazing. true romance is so underrated. most idiot critics give it such a bad rating, but i definitely think it is soo much fun, and totally deserving of your list. what other bunuel have you seen?

Other Bunuel, only The Phantom of Liberty which I'd love to rewatch sometime. I thought I'd stick night and fog up there because it is simply the saddest little piece of film you could ever see. I am starting to think about loads of other films that are deserving to be in my 20 and it is tough fitting them in. More bergman and more herzog deserves position I suppose. But hey, 20 is a small number, perhaps a top 50 will need creating soon!

I got a new random 5 up. okay, they aren't so random. I really am not sure of the order though. Dead or alive 2 gets up there because it is the most unexpectedly beautiful film and gigantically, criminally underrated because its a sequel to a crap Miike film. Yet it is nothing like its predecessor at all. The Isle is a new addition but again, this is hard because I really like several other films by Kim Ki Duk but I think this is most beautifully filmed and lingers in my mind. The swallowing hooks scene is horrible yet very impactive and relevant. Christmas in August is a little known Korean romantic film. Its very subtle, shot carefully and totally poignant. Then Taegukgi. I hate peoples comparisons with Saving private ryan. This film has tons more emotion and is a more visceral and fresh show of war. Ikiru is a gorgeous film, if a tad long. More Kurosawa is needed for me but I remembered this for a long time after I first watched it.
