Solaris at the top, huge kudos there. Some more of my favorite stuff includes To Kill A Mockingbird, Life Aquatic, and Blade Runner.

I ;D at the fact that you have Manhunter on your list. A great, atmospheric film! Not that many people seem to care that much about it, though, so I`m glad to see it. Aliens is much fun, at least as I remember it. Far from any top-list-material for me, but hey, who cares? I really, really need to check out Diabolique, or any Clouzot at all...

I'm surprised to see True Stories on there. I don't know of many people who've even heard of it. The only reason I ever watched it was because I liked the Talking Heads at the time.

My mom owns Shindlers List and I will probably see it soon. True Stories is a movie made in 1986 with the band "The Talking Heads". Here is the plot off IMDB:David Byrne of Talking Heads fame visits a typical (and fictional) Texas town, on the eve of the town's celebration of the state's sesquicentennial. He meets various colorful local characters, most notably Lewis Fyne, a big-hearted bachelor in search of matrimony. Really, cool, surreal movie with great songs. Cast: John Goodman Anne McEnroe Spalding Gray David Byrne Swoosie Kurtz Jo Harvey Allen Roebuck 'Pops' Staples Alix Elias Tito Larriva John Ingle

Inclusion of Pi = exaltation! I love that film a lot.
I can't say much else, because besides Pi the only other movie I've seen on there is Jaws.
I'd love to see this True Stories, it looks amazing.

Kudos for having Diabolique, the last scene is so creepy, it reminded me of the ending of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Have you seen Vertigo? That's the only movie with a twist that can rival that of Diabolique. It's no surprise that they are both based on books by the same author. You should check out Eyes Without a Face too, it's very atmospheric and poetic.

I finally (finally) saw Seven Samurai, and I really loved it! Of course, I added it to the top of my list. I also put C.H.U.D. on the list too.

So glad you liked Seven Samurai! One of the best films I have ever seen, now you will need to check out some more Kurosawa, as well as some more foreign films. Also, I saw you bought/rented C.H.U.D., it looked really awesome, what is it about?

Well, C.H.U.D. is about Cannabilistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers. The goverment is putting nuclear waste in the underground tunnels of New York which turn the hobos intno the title name. So a Photographer, a Leutinant, and a soup kitchen worker try and unravel the coverup as well as save their lives.

Oh man, I just love Phantasm, one of the first DVD's I ever got. Tall Man is just an amazing villian, and that ending, just wow. Sad you had to take off From Dusk Till Dawn, I also love that movie tons.

Mad props for putting on "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari"...we watched it in my History Of Cinema class and pretty much everyone I talked to thought it was dull and dated...ok, it's a bit dated, but still a more enjoyable and challenging viewing experience than much out there today. Really, is this not the coolest?

Ooooh, could you go more in-depth on that History of Cinema class? I got a class called the same, started at my school, which will begin either next year, or the year after. I am always interested in what film classes people are involved in. Also, are any of the kids in that class idiots, I have come across many in my day? Really, is this not the coolest?

This was at my college, the class is a requirement for the cinema major. It was a 300-level class, I was the only freshman. I don't think many people were idiots, I'm good friends with many of them, but certain older films (such as Caligari) didn't meet with much approval, from the people I talked to, anyway. I could be wrong.
I'd recommend taking the class, I'm not sure what yours will cover but mine was an excellent survey of cinema production, style, technology, and the ins-and-outs of the business industry from the 1890s to nearly the present day, covering a fairly good range of international film movements as well as the Hollywood system.

Oh man, that class sounds absolutely amazing, completely crushing my class. I don't know anyone around here that takes film seriously (well, not many). What films did you watch in the class?
I tried to look for the link of the class I am going to take, but I couldn't find it. I know it was advertised on Turner Classic Movies before, though.

I bought Spirits of the Dead a few weeks ago and have seen it at least 7 times since then. With 3 stories by Edgar Allen Poe each directed by a different excellent director, who can go wrong? Starring:Brigitte Bardot, Alain Delon, Jane Fonda, and Terence Stamp. Dorected by: Directed by Federico Fellini, Louis Malle, and Roger Vadim Trailer at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=END2jMZju0I
