I'm so glad when I see Stroszek on peoples favorite lists... I think it's one of the most profoundly moving experiences to hit the medium. The first hour is pure perfection.
I like your list on a more "general" basis also. Didn't get Eternal, though (!?). Ordered Amarcord some days ago and I really look forward to it. I like what I've seen by Fellini until now... Blue Velvet is amazing, La Double vie de Veronique looks absolutely brilliant and Children of Men is to be seen in the near future...

Nice list, Blue Velvet and Children of Men are both masterpieces and I need to see every other film on it except Muholland Drive, which I didn't particularly care for.

Cool manz, ima try to write up little sums soon, then try to elaborate over time and have a little guide to my mind and why I absolutely love these movies. I get so much more out of film than I do from any other medium, so I hold a lot of these favs. very near to my heart n shit. Hopefully I can articulate why I like these movies so much, I just need to get some time to get my thoughts down and try to organize that shit so it makes sense to others.
For now I can say Eternal Sunshine feels like a dream i've been dreaming since I started obsessing over the story a year ago and Mulholland Dr. is like the nightmare I have every month or so that I cant way to find out what happens in the end but can never remember because my mind is still wrap around everything else that happened and gets frazzle fucked.
I don't know, fuck it, i'll spruce this shit up tomorrow and over the weekend i'll try and get something up for Woman Under the Influence since I just watched it the other night.

Children of Men grew on me eternally the second time I went to see it. First run through I was impressed but wasn't blown away. Since nothing came out the week after that, I went to it again and really got drawn in. The whole time I just thought that every new movie should look exactly like this. Big Ballin Big Ballin Big Ballin

I'll add links picks and nice lil reviewz once I get some time. 1. Blue Velvet 2. A Woman Under the Influence 3. Suna no onna 4. La Double vie de Veronique 5. Bara no Soretsu 6. Au hasard Balthazar 7. George Washington 8. Banshun 9. Stroszek 10. Gummo 11. Ordet 12. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 13. Il Conformista 14. Sunrise 15. Otoshiana 16. Down By Law 17. Amarcord 18. Mulholland Dr. 19. The Brown Bunny 20. Children of Men Wow, such an amazing list I can barely believe it, there are a few choices I don't like as strongly as others though. The ones I have seen: 2. A Woman Under the Influence - A masterpiece, and maybe Cassavetes' best made film, and most draining, but for me, I don't like it the best. I can kinda see why people rank it the highest though, but Faces and Killing of a Chinese Bookie (out of the Criterion set, so I am guessing you have seen them?) are both much better to me, as is Love Streams (have you seen this?). Something about Faces and the look of the film just sets it apart from others, I can't even explain it. And Bookie is just such an amazing gangster film, and so different than others I have seen. *Opened my computer like 2-3 days later, to find that I haven't finished writing this.* 6. Balthazar - I am one of those people who say it is one of the more overrated films I have seen. I can kinda see why people love it so much, but the acting is just so bad, and I hate all the characters, the film just comes off as so bland. 7. George Washington - Easily one of the best films this decade, it is so beautiful and poetic and just perfect. God, I want to re-watch this film so bad right now. 10. Gummo - My thoughts are clear, this film is a masterpiece, when I see a film this original, crazy, brilliant, different, fucked-up, it is hard for me not to love it. Korine is a genius; his style is just so different than anything else. This is one of the movies I would pick if I had to explain myself to someone. 12. Eternal Sunshine - Not a huge fan, I mean it is a cool, original idea, but nothing blows me away about this. I like it though. 17. Armacord - A masterpiece, although doesn't touch 8 1/2 in my books. It is so funny, and such a different kind of film. I love Fellini's style, his use of colors, etc. I will never forget that huge-titted lady. 18. Mullholland Dr. - Great film, up until one of my most hated endings of all time. It is just fucking retarded, I still like the film, I hate people all trying to figure out what happens at the end, and saying there is so much depth to it. I can see why people like it again though. *I am beginning to see you like films that do something different and are original in ways.* 19. Brown Bunny - I have said my thoughts before, but it is perfect. I prefer Buffalo '66 way more though, because that film is actually enjoyable to watch, but this film is an emotional experience, and in many weird ways beautiful. Tons of films on your list I really want to see, and overall I really love your list.
