Director Ruggero Deodato made this movie before he made Cannibal Holocaust. It's not as repugnant as his later movie, but there are some impressively nauseating and disturbing scenes to behold. Many people talk about the turtle butchering scene in Cannibal Holocaust as being repulsive, but there's an alligator killing in Jungle Holocaust that may even be worse. The most noteworthy gore scene comes at the end, though. It's handled in such a matter of fact, gruesome manner that my jaw dropped a little.
Jungle Holocaust is a disorienting film that never really gives the viewer time to rest. Unlike Cannibal Holocaust, the main character isn't an evil asshole out to exploit the natives. The natives want to exploit him. In that regard, I found the film more involving.
Grossness **** Cruelty ***1/2 Overall Disturbing Content ***1/2 Nudity ***1/2 Film Quality **1/2 (Out of *****)

I can't even find a trailer for the film on Youtube! I need to see it though, and I found the DVD on amazon. I will probably rent it first though. I also heard about a set from Best Buy that includes this, Eaten Alive, and some other movie all for pretty cheap. Do you know anything about that?

Yeah, Best Buy sells three films together in a Jungle Horrors box set for like $12.99. Eaten Alive is along the lines of Jungle Holocaust and Cannibal Holocaust, but the other film, Massacre In Dinosaur Valley is NOTHING like the others. It's more of a silly adventure movie with some sex and violence thrown in. I like it somewhat, but it's not a cannibal or gore movie.
