This is fairly mild slasher film that focuses more on the story than just a bunch of killing. It's actually pretty well made for the type of film that it is. Bruce Campbell appears in Maniac Cop, but his performance is nowhere near as manic as it was in Evil Dead 2, so some viewers might be let down by his restrained acting.
Overall, for a film with the title Maniac Cop, it's not as violent or as intense as one might expect.
Grossness ** Cruelty **1/2 Overall Disturbing Content **1/2 Nudity No Stars Film Quality *** (Out of *****)

I have been interested in this film for a long time, really ever since I heard Bruce was in this. I will probably end up blind buying it, but maybe I will rent it. The DVD looks stacked too. Any thoughts on the sequels? I probably would only see the second one, since the third one doesn't have Bruce, but if you liked/didn't like them then that may change my opinion.

The last time I saw Maniac Cop 2 was years ago, but I don't remember it very well (I was playing video games at the same time, if I recall). I haven't seen 3 yet, and don't really plan to unless it pops up on cable and I have nothing else to do.
Maniac Cop won't appeal to gore fans, really. Like I said, it's not anywhere as nasty as it could be. I like it, but it's not a mindblower or anything. In a way, I think the fact that its fairly well-made makes it less entertaining. It's a little campy, but not as much as other films like it.
