Blood Island Series.

These are a series of Philipino Horror films from the late 60s to the early 70s. These revolve around an evil Dr.Lorca and his experemintations with radioactive chloraphil(?). The first one has nothing to do with the other two, but the second and third are sequels.There are also two other films about blood island but those are not about Dr.Lorca and have nothing to do with clorafil(?) monsters.

I remember seeing Beast of Blood on a local Saturday afternoon horror program, but I haven't seen it since. I keep wanting to buy the DVDs, but I'm afraid I'll be disappointed after so much time has passed. I remember being disturbed when I was younger, but I doubt I'd have the same feeling now.

lordofdance, if you ever want to buy any of these films look for the DVD set entitled "The Blood Island Vacation Pack" which includes all three of those and Al Adamsons Brain of Blood. The set is only $20 while each individual DVD is only $17. I have really enjoyed every one of these films and watch them quite frequently. I am pretty sure you wont be dissapointed.

I just looked it up on DVD Planet, and they have it for $19.95. That is a serious bargain. Even if I don't like most of them, it's no great loss.

The joys of Brides of Blood

Midget whipping.

Brides of Blood is a surprisingly entertaining movie. I figured I'd get some cheap laughs off of it, and I did, but I actually I had a good time beyond just chuckling at how silly it all was. You really can't go wrong with a movie that has a killer mutant that requires naked native women as human sacrifices. As I was watching this, I thought to myself, "All this movie needs is some good native dancing" and sure enough, there's five minutes of it at the end! This movie has it all!

Grossness ** (really fake severed body parts)
Cruelty ** (I think I saw a native girl getting her limbs ripped off from far away. Also, there's some tree violence.)
Overall Disturbing Content ** (Midget whipping.)
Nudity ** (Very brief naked native girls)
Film Quality ***1/2

Nice review. Im glad you enjoyed it. I really liked Beast of Blood most though. I cant wait to hear what you think about the other two. They just get crazier and crazier.

I'll probably watch the other movies in the collection soon. If they do get crazier, I should like each one more than the next.
