May not be playing music, but it is part of making music. Has anyone written any lyrics? I wanted to try and write something for fun but can't think of something. I can think of something but just can't get it the way I want to. I just thought it would be awesome to write songs with obscure movie references in it and shit, with lyrics about how much I hate people too. How do you do it, write songs that is? And post any songs you may have written if you want to.

Its all about poetry, and trying to be Dylan is never a good thing. If you can write two 4 line verses and throw in a 3 line chorus thing, you have a song. Isn't that hard of a concept really.
And the best way to reference movies is either to be very subtle or just describe the whole thing. Kinda like Pixies "Debaser" or Barenaked Ladies "One Week."

Yes, getting a hook is extremely hard, especially without music.
