This may be hard to come up with for many of you, but see if you can list 5 Romantic Comedies that are worthy of consideration. After at least 5 movies get more than one vote, it'll move to round 2.

Does Eternal Sunshine count? It's pretty romantic, and it has comedic elements. If so, I also nominate Science of Sleep
Annie Hall Manhattan

Letter to Three Wives might count as a good one, I am not too sure though. It is pretty funny, but I don’t know if it is too romantic, although it does deal with romance. Also, I just rented Philadelphia Story. Has anyone seen that film, and would it count as a "romantic comedy"?

You liked Amelie?? Oh, thanks for reminding me, The Apartment is one of my favorites. Also, you can add Philadelphia Story to my list. Does City Lights count?

You liked Amelie?? Oh, thanks for reminding me, The Apartment is one of my favorites... Yeah, I thought it was a pretty tasty, sweet dish when I saw it some while ago. It was so light-hearted and charming; the music (accordion?) was nice, the images radiated some kind of a dreamlike, colourful language (but at the same time I thought the film kept this sort of realism, in a strange kind of way) and these small details, you know, that everybody talks about. I guess it's a bit too sentimental/mainstream in it's attitude, but I remember being quite overwhelmed by all the original, fresh elements that filled the frame scene after scene. I especially remember loving the scene in which Amelie helps the blind man over the street and describe their surroundings with such a great empathy.

It's probably a good movie to watch with a date, since most women seem to really like this movie. It's not an overly pretentious boring and useless foreign movie , so I could see why some people don't like it. Myself, I just liked it. Nothing much to think about, though. I probably would have included Amelie instead of Groundhog Day, but then I would have had to defend it, and, it seemed like a good gesture to mention Groundhog Day.

The thing I didn't like about Amelie was that it ripped off a lot from The Double Life of Veronique, Chungking Express, and Three Colors: Red, three of my favorite movies. Amelie's character is pretty much a mix of Valentine from Red and Faye from Chungking Express. The whole stalking and falling in love with your stalker in Amelie was taking from The Double Life of Veronique, though Kieslowski made it much more interesting and mysterious. Even the part where she breaks into that guy's home in order to messing around with it is taken from Chungking Express. The old painter in Amelie is an obvious spinoff of The Judge from Red.

I could see why that would upset you, but I don't mind myself. I mean, sure, there are homages and there are rip-offs, but either way, it's not like every singly character is unique. Amelie's character is pretty much a mix of Valentine from Red and Faye from Chungking Express. Cowboy Bebop.

Even the part where she breaks into that guy's home in order to messing around with it is taken from Chungking Express. Hah, I was thinking about that when I watched Chungking Express. But I really can't see the creators of Amelie watching CE and saying "Hey, that's a really cool idea! Let's completely rip it off!" Just like ie said, I'm sure it's more of an homage if anything.
