They rock so hard. So talented on every instrument, especially Carey on the drums and Jones on the guitar. They are innovative, combining prog rock and heavy metal to great effect. Also, they are very darkly humorous, some of their lyrics are just sooo hilarious if you read them.

Go to the review section and look at how many people agree with the first one. You can't argue with nearly a thousand people who think Tool is one of the best bands of today.

Playing devil's advocate (in this case, would it be god's advocate?), I could retort by saying that you yourself have argued with exactly 13,713 people and exactly 1,041 people disagree with you.

Looks like you can argue with thirteen thousand people, as well as over a thousand people. Would a more accurate way of saying that be that you can argue with "nearly a thousand people," but the people who disagree with you can't? (QED'd )



The boys in Tool have talent, yes, and are by far better than most of the bands that I'll call herein their children, because most copied so much from Tool that you might mistake the child for the parent. The child bands also copy most of the heavy angst that Tool uses in their music, but the only problem being that most of the children bands have faux-angst at best. The members of the children bands might be sad over not getting an SUV for their 16th birthday, or because the lead singer's girlfriend dumped him for a more responsible person, but none of these well-off people really have that much to complain about. Maybe the children band members have too much money?


However, I can't tolerate Tool's music at length much anymore.
The boys put me in a negative space, and I actually sold off all of my Tool albums except Lateralus to a friend of mine who would agree with the good Captain on the lyrics part (we talked about some of their lyrics at length back in the day). Actually, I still have one of those string tribute albums - you know, the ones that were popular a few years ago for some strange reason - but only because my friend didn't even want it for free. Oh well.

I like Lateralus because it is one of those albums that puts me in a "space" where I can think quite well. Also, there is much less of a focus on overwhelming and droning sadness, and it actually looked like the boys might actually have cracked a smile; not really write a pop song, or anything like that, but you know, just kind of stop being so goddamn depressed all the time.


Overally, though, I respect the band, like Led Zeppelin, but (like the Led Zeppelins) I don't listen them that often.

To sell a Tool album is like... selling The Godfather Collection.

I just happen to listen to the sweet, sweet "Ticks and Leeches". I espesially like to listen to the band befor going to a party and stuff like that. Many times, when I sit here, I prefer some more quiet things.

But it's definitively one of my favorite bands for the moment.

Ok ok, ie I get your point. It was more of a joke than anything, you really didn't have to take it so seriously.

I think that their first two albums were actually pretty rudimentary and didn't really extend beyond their self-imposed grunge trappings, but Lateralus and 10,000 Days are really incredible, absolutely bursting at the seams with emotion. How anyone could not like those two amazing albums is beyond me (well, excusing teenyboppers who think they're hard because they listen to My Chemical Romance and Funeral For A Friend).

TOOL has been confirmed for the Øyafestivalen, set to take place August 7-11 in Middelalderparken (the Medieval Park ) in Gamlebyen, the oldest part of Oslo, Norway. TOOL will perform on Thursday, August 9. Also scheduled to appear are NINE INCH NAILS, SHINING and JAZKAMER, among many others.

TOOL recently announced more rescheduled dates for its spring U.S. tour, which was postponed from its original mid-March start after drummer Danny Carey tore a bicep while picking up his dog at home. Nearly 40 shows have been confirmed so far, including a co-headlining appearance at Manchester, Tennessee's Bonnaroo Festival in mid-June.

According to Billboard.com, singer Maynard James Keenan has been working during TOOL's unexpected break on new music from his side project PUSCIFER. Keenan revealed at his MySpace page that AUDIOSLAVE/RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk have played on the tracks, along with ex-PRIMUS and A PERFECT CIRCLE drummer Tim Alexander.

TOOL is continuing to support its latest album, "10,000 Days", and current single, "Jambi".

I know a couple of our Norwegian members will enjoy this news, though I don't know if it is near them or not.

Tool extends Tour

Prog-rockers Tool have made some changes and additions to their North American tour, which kicked off last week with two nights in Las Vegas and now stretches into mid-July.

The trek was originally set to kick off in mid-March, but was postponed after drummer Danny Carey tore a bicep. The accident - which Tool, in a tongue-in-cheek posting at its website, blamed on a dog - happened a week after the band announced the first 30 dates of the North American trek.

Tool, which has also been in New Zealand, Australia and Japan this year, is crossing the globe in support of its latest release, "10,000 Days." The band's fourth studio set debuted at the top of The Billboard 200 chart and scored two Grammy nominations, including Best Hard Rock Performance for the song "Vicarious."
