Masters of modern music. They have never released a bad record let alone a mediocre one. OK Computer and The Bends are constantly competing for the title of favorite Radiohead record.

OK Computer is one of the best albums I ever heard, and mainly because I gave it more than one listen. I downloaded it and it didn't sink in the first time I listened, then the second time, with headphones, for some reason I listened again, and it was so much better. Kid A is also a great album; I need to listen to that one a few more times though.

Headphones make all music like this better. Especially for some bands that jam a lot into their songs like Radiohead or Pink Floyd. The headphones are why you enjoyed it more.

First amusing thing Pitchfork has ever done: White House Weighs in on Radiohead
Well, now that you know what Pitchfork thinks of In Rainbows, you're no doubt left wondering: What's the White House's take on the new Radiohead? The Washington Times was wondering this too, and since the White House actually answers their calls, they got the scoop (thanks also to The Daily Swarm for the linkage).
Turns out Radiohead have at least one "big fan" in the big house, that being deputy press secretary Tony Fratto, who expressed his intention to score a copy of In Rainbows.
Others, including deputy press secretary Scott Stanzel and National Security Council spokesperson Gordon Johndroe, were at least aware of the band. Stanzel called himself an "appreciator" of their music, while Johndroe admitted to being "90% sure" he had some Radiohead jams on his iPod. None from the quite-possibly-critical-of-the-Bush-administration Hail to the Thief, though!
White House press secretary Dana Perino-- who was 21 when Pablo Honey came out-- demonstrated her worldliness when asked about the British rock group: "I don't even know what that is. Is that a band?"

Radiohead will embark on a rare international tour starting next spring, Billboard.com can reveal. Although details are still sketchy, expect the British alternative rock band to play multiple markets, in sizeable venues.
"We plan to tour next year, starting in May through to probably the end of the year. With lots of holidays in that period," says Bryce Edge of Courtyard Management, the firm that manages the band.
"At the moment we are talking with our agents in North America and for the rest of the world, trying to get a schedule which works for the band and works financially," he adds.
An extended run will be a treat for dedicated fans who missed Radiohead's summer 2006 dates, which landed in a handful of European and north American markets.
"They toured last summer almost for creative reasons, definitely not for financial reasons. And I think they quite enjoyed it," explains Edge. "The next set of touring will be slightly larger-scale venues."
Frontman Thom Yorke is anything but a fan of international treks and, in the past, the singer has raised concerns over the effects of touring on climate change.
"He likes to do shows, but the whole business of schlepping around the world is not top of his list of favorite things to do," adds Edge. "He really enjoys playing to the fans -- it's just the process of how to do that which is the pain in the neck (for Yorke). They're not road dogs. They never have been."
Radiohead tore up the industry manual when they allowed fans to name their price to download its latest album, "In Rainbows," released Oct. 10. To date, representatives for the band have remained tight-lipped on the sales performance of the studio set. Edge downplayed as "exaggerated" reports that "In Rainbows" had shifted more than 1.2 million copies, but admitted the average price paid was "probably pretty close" to £4 ($8).
"We haven't analyzed the data yet," he explains. "The servers are still functioning on delivering the records to people. When that calms down a bit, we will have a moment to analyze and drag the data off."
And he was philosophical on reports that the illegal platforms have delivered millions of units. "The fact of the matter is, as soon as a record goes into manufacture, or advance copies are released to the press, it goes onto BitTorrent," he says. "That is the fact. What we are dealing with is a situation that we always dealing with."
A label deal has yet to be struck for the physical release of the album, a spokesperson for the band says.
Very exciting if they come anywhere near me.

Radiohead (sorta) Announce North American Tour Pitchfork.com There are three essential components to any respectable Pitchfork News tour story-- dates, cities, and venues-- but when your band is called Radiohead, you can get away with announcing them one at a time.
Today Radiohead confirmed that they are indeed coming to North America in the near future, and provided folks with a handy list of just which cities they'll visit. No dates, no venues, just cities. Did yours make the cut? Have a look (arranged alphabetically):
Atlanta Boston Charlotte Chicago Cleveland Dallas Houston Indianapolis Los Angeles Miami Montreal New York Philadelphia San Diego San Francisco Santa Barbara Seattle St. Louis Tampa Toronto Vancouver Washington, DC
They are coming to Cleveland!!! I'm so pumped, I hope they schedule a summer date.

I might dig that Seattle concert. I might try to go with my brother, since he seems to not hate OK Computer (he's kept it for a while now...) and such. I also blind bought In Rainbows. I figure for the packaging alone, as well as the concept, it's worth me throwing $8 their way. Also, there's been talk that if any other major band did this, albums as we know it would completely change forever. Rage Against the Machine, I am betting all of my money on you. You do this, life's never going to be the same. Anyways, their albums as I hear 'em: OK Computer Hail to the Thief Kid A Amnesiac I Might Be WrongI'd probably only update this list once I've heard the Bends, Pablo Honey AND In Rainbows. Discourage me from mere meddling. And I'm not even going to bother with their EPs; their scribbly art looks decent enough on albums, but oversaturation will surely kill it all for me. Unless it's something like My Iron Lung, or something. I don't know, you decide what else I should include.
