Cheap profile, I know, but I wanted to get into the discussion. I have a decent amount of Buckethead's discography (solo and with friends) waiting for me, and have heard the following: Monsters and Robots Colma Gorgone (with Gorgone) Decoding the Tomb of BansheebotI've also heard bits of Bucketheadland 1 and Enter the Chicken, but I haven't been able to finish them yet. It goes without saying that I think he's a great guitar player, but hearing more of his work, I think I enjoy more of his solo, vocal-less material like Colma more than his attempts with generic speed metal like Decoding the Blah Blah Blah. I did really dig Monsters and Robots. Also, Gorgone is an instrumental EP and is not too bad, but nothing that memorable. Here's a live version of my current favorite Buckethead tune, Whitewash, if only because that's the only song by him I'd had since 2006.

My favorite Buckethead record is Colma, its so focused and his playing is much more controlled. Enter the Chicken is good as well, but its a bit sporadic.

Well, I'm definitely on the lookout for more albums by Buckethead that are like Colma, but I'm looking at it more as an "acoustic" album; it doesn't feature him rocking out. A lot of what I've heard from Buckethead lately has been sporadic. Just all over the place. But you might dig Les Claypool's collaboration with Buckethead on Monsters and Robots, via rental or a torrent. The diversity actually works quite well on that album; it doesn't feel totally random yet you can actually tell what song you're on.

Ballad of Buckethead, which is actually where I first heard of Buckethead years back Though Claypool does play bass on pretty much half the tracks, so yep. The album, Monsters and Robots, is much more accessible than a good portion of his discography. Much of what I've heard is him guitar doodling over clips of Giant Robo.
